This renovated motel offers comfortable rooms and cottages. It gets its name from the whales that appear in the Atlantic Ocean every winter, right outside the windows, making their way to warm-water breeding grounds. Catching a glimpse of these rare and magnificent creatures while relaxing on dune-protected beaches with sparkling water and warm sands may be one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Quiet Flagler Beach is a small but charming town with enough shopping and dining to keep you busy in between whale watching sessions.

Florida like it used to be!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/09
My daughter, her dog Lulu, and I spent a week at the Whale Watch this July. We loved the laid back feel. It reminded me of Florida in the 60s and 70s. The hosts were attentive and welcomed pets. Big plus for a family with animals. The beach was close and sparsly populated. Another big plus. Rooms were clean with everything you could need for a beach vacation. It was great to have a pool to cool off. Other couples and families we met were warm and friendly. No stress here. My family (and pets) will be back as soon as we can get away from the constrains of work and school. Thanks to Barry and Pat for providing a great getaway.

We love to come here to relax
By Pat, 05/18/08
Whale Watch is wonderful, we have quiet relaxing vacations here with our dogs. They love walking on the beach. they have so much fun they sleep all the way home. Barry and Patricia are like family and we look forward to seeing them. The cottages are clean and comfortable with everything one would need to cook. Coffee is free and treats for the dogs are waiting their arrival. We visit 3-4 times a year and spent last Thanksgiving having a pot luck with all the folks that were staying. Barry fried the turkey and it was awesome!!!!!

Wonderful Vacation
By Norma, 05/18/08
We spent two weeks at the Whale Watch with our three Golden Retrievers and had a wonderful time. Our cottage was comfortable and clean and our hosts, Barry and Pat, were wonderful. We felt like we were staying with friends. We met several people while we were there and have kept in touch. It is so nice to be with other dog owners that care about their animals like we do. The location is wonderful right across the street from a pet friendly beach and close to several good restaurants. Great parking and lots of room to walk your dogs. Flagler Beach is a unique beach town it is like stepping back in time to the 1950. It was a time when people cared about each other and enjoyed the simple things in life. If you are looking for a stress free vacation and want to include your dogs the Whale Watch Motel is the place to go.

Nice little place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/07
Very nice and clean motel. Beach a little small but got to see a sea turtle come in and lay eggs that made it worth the trip.

After Winter Recharge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/14/07
My husband and I and our Boxer Max love this motel. Pat and Barry are the greatest. We have become great friends. That's the kind of place it is. We look forward to our 3-4 week visit every year and get our favorite cabin every year. We think of it as our "Florida winter home". Talk about cleanliness...Patricia washing every bed spread whether a visitor stays one night or 20. That impressed me more than anything else. Can you believe any other place does that? Give it a try....you will continue to come back year after year. And the beaches...absolutely NO CROWDS. So relaxing. Not a tourist trap..but everything is close enough if you need to do something every minute.

We got married on the beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/06
The owners are wonderful. The beach is gorgeous and never crowded. We stayed here last year and loved it so much that we went back this year and were married on the beach across from the motel. The cottages are wonderful. Barry and Patricia are the owners and make you feel like family. The prices are fabulous for the cabins or the rooms and there is always an afternoon breeze form the ocean. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. You will not be disappointed if you want the old Florida feel for a vacation.

We will be back!!!!!
By Lisa, 06/20/06
The Owners were great!!! It was a great location. We loved every minute of it. We were there for a week. The view was wonderful, as well as the beach. The pool was always clean and ready for the little ones. The hotel provided us with everything we needed, from chairs, sand toys, towels for the beach, to boogie boards. We loved every minute, even the tropical storm Alberto. We have told everyone about it, it is GREAT!! Thanks for making our family (12) vacation the best.

weekend getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/06
My daughter and I visited here about 2 years ago, and this place has still left a excellent impression on both of us, and we can not wait to go back! Rooms are very homey, across the street is the ocean! Wonderful place to take children, quiet and the staff/owners are extremely friendly. Great value, no fluff, razzle-dazzle extras, more like your homey cottage setting. Highly recommend.

Fantastic Cottages
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/23/06
Hubby and I stayed in Cottage 8 for an extended weekend with our English Mastiff pup. Our trip was filled with sand and surf fun. The accomodations were exactly what we needed...with some much appreciated luxuries like an unbeatable ocean views, quaint decor, and close pool access. Cottages are equipped with full kitchenettes, futons, cable TV & VCR. The three-room (+ bath) style of the cottage provided us with ample space. Our hosts welcomed us with doggie treats and tidied up behind us most thoroughly. Flagler Beach is a great place to vacation with a pet. Other travelers were accompanied by dogs and/or cats. There are several dog-friendly beaches, trails, and outdoor restaurants in the area. Locals are friendly and helpful. We even enjoyed a day trip to St. Augustine for a dog-friendly sip from the Fountain of Youth!
