Okeechobee's Hidden Treasure!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/1/06
Angler's Villa is the best kept secret on the North Side of Lake Okeechobee. We stayed for four nites in cabin #3 (two bedrooms and a kitchenette) which was quite upscale, uplifting, and very roomy with new appliances and a 25'' cable TV. We were thrilled and we felt we were in paradise for a cabin that was under $75.00 per nite (3 nite stay required)
It's perfect for a fishing trip or small family. There is a canal behind your cabin along with a fish cleaning station, patio and patio furniture, and the most clearest of skies for stargazing. This place is just off the beaten path--so there is NO TRAFFIC but you are only about 1 mile from the fishing and bait stores. We had our very own orange tree which we were allowed to pick oranges off for breakfast!!!!
Anyways, its next to impossible to find an upscale two bedroom cabin for a fishing trip on the north side of Lake Okeechobee--but we lucked out. The owners are very friendly and helpful; just like family to us.
There is even a pier on the site!
Fishing is currently hot on the north side of Lake Okeechobee if you know where to fish or have a great guide: for crappie Fishing I would strongly recommend Tim Gibson of the Okeechobee Fishing Headquarters just down the street--we slow drifted on the Kissimee
