Natives love it!
By Kathy, 07/09/09
Being a native Floridian no longer living in the state, I stay at Blarney every time I go back to Ft. Lauderdale. It takes me back to the Ft. Lauderdale of my youth. Marie is fantastic! Rooms are great, clean, and big. The patio and pool are a bonus! A very relaxed atmosphere that is the Ft. Lauderdale Beach that I remember.

Blarney Castle is the best in Fort Lauderdale, Fl
By knight fan stan, 07/07/09
Stayed for the 4th Of July holiday. We have been coming to the castle for 20 years or so. Whenever were in town for a Dolphins or Marlins game. My kids call Marie, Ma Ma Marie. The coffee is always fresh and the kids love the doughnuts. We will be back in August. Check out the photos I uploaded on this site. Took some great pixs. You can even right click on a certain photo and save it as your screensaver backround. Take care and enjoyed meeting everyone when we visited. Feel free to email me anytime regarding Blarney Castle. Cheers ! Marlins Fan Stan

R. Johnson - We Just Loved It
By R. Johnson, 06/25/09
One of the nicest places we have stayed at. Very reasonably priced, very clean, very quiet, large apartments (like a home away from home), polite staff, great pool, beautiful grounds, close to the beach and restaurants (within walking distance). Marie is a wonderful host, she is very pleasant and helpful at all times. If you are planning to visit Ft. Lauderdale, this is the place to stay. We can't wait to go back again.

A Home away from Home
By Sally, 02/22/09
Stayed on 3 different vacations...Love this place....NOT your High Rise expensive Hilton, but All the Ammenities, Comfort, Cleanliness, and Friendliness and person could wish for a wonderful stay. Marie provides the comfort of her native, Ireland. A true treasure that still can be found in the 21st century!

First visit but not disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/06/09
We just returned from a week stay in Fort Lauderdale at Blarney Castle and were delighted. It dosen't look special and the place is old but nicely kept up.It was clean and roomy. The real attraction was the warm lovely lady that owns the place. She is always friendly and helpful and you will get the feeling you are part of her family, you will find most of the guests have been staying at her place for years. The price is reasonable and the location is very convenient. Short walk to many attractions and the beach. Most of the larger hotels in the area are larger and much more expensive. We sincerely hope that Marie will continue to operate this hotel for many years and give us the opportunity to visit again often.Overall this was a very positive experience and would recomend this hotel highly.

Delightful stay!
By Lady Nightingale, 01/18/09
We stayed here for just one night prior to a cruise (thanks to the Yahoo! reviews) and loved it. Our hostess was delightful, the room comfy, and the style...Well, we walked in, and I expected to see the Rat Pack lounging by the pool, martinis and all. We were given terrific restaurant suggestions, and truly enjoyed our stay. Not fancy, but clean and very homey. It almost felt like staying at Grandma's house when one was a kid, only cooler. We'd return to Fort Lauderdale just to stay here again for a few days and enjoy the pool and swank vintage ambiance.

a real bargain
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/08
I use to come at least once a year to the Blarney castle and it is the best place to stay in FL. You can walk to the beach, restaurants and shops. No party place since the guests are 60+. In the morning you get free coffee and Marie is the nicest person I have ever met. Always friendly and helpful. She has been running the motel for more than 30 years now and has this place really familiarised. Although the room interiour is 30 years old now everything is clean. The rate for an efficiency in May/June 2008 was USD 62 plus 10% tax.

EXTREMELY NICE PLACE TO STAY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/14/08
THIS MOTEL WAS EXELLENT. MARIE IS AWESOME. THE 100$ ROOM ARE QUITE BIG AND NICE. THERE'S A FRIDGE, STOVE AND MICROWAVE AND BIG LIVING ROOM WITH LOTS OF DRESSERS AND CLOSET SPACE. YOU FEEL LIKE HOME. THE PEOPLE THER ARE VERY FRIENDLY. THE DAY WE LEFT WE WERE ONLY TAKING THE PLANE AT 6:30 IN THE EVENING AND WE HAD TO CHECK OUT AT 11:00 MARIE LET US STAY AROUND THE MOTEL. WE PUT OUR LUGGAGE IN HER OFFICE. THAT SAME DAY THERE WAS A HURRICANE AROUND 1:30 IN THE AFTERNOON AND ONE OF THE RESIDENTS INVITED US TO WAIT OUT THE STORM IN HER ROOM. IT'S VERY CLOSE TO THE BEACH. THERE'S A NICE RESTAURENT CALLED THE CABANA VERY CLOSE BY. WE DEFINETLY WILL RETURN. AND IF YOU TAKE WAS IS CALLED THE HOTEL ROOMS THERE'S ONLY A SMALL FRDGE. THERE IS A MICROWAVE AND BIG FRIDGE BY THE POOL EVERYBODY CAN USE.

It's no castle, but........
By Jan, 03/13/08
The 'Blarney Castle Motel' is a kitschy/retro/vintage little property in Ft. Lauderdale,'The Blarney Castle Motel'. Trust me, it's no castle! But it is like right out of that movie 'Slums of Beverly Hills' with it's mid-century modern lines and exterior stairways. So cool! (Um, our room didn't smell that great....but that's another story, nothing a can of Lysol wouldn't fix.) We brought the average guest age down to 60. We forgot our camera, but our friend took pix of it, and us, with his cell phone. Sadly, I'm not having luck posting them for this review/site for you. Advice appreciated. Fortunately we enjoyed record high temps and were barely in the remarkably spacious room, really a mini-suite, fridge and all. This tiny throwback to the '60s literally sits in the shadow of the giant Yankee Clipper Resort, right across the street from the Ocean. Whatta bargain, too! P.S. Best ever Sunday Brunch: Blue Moon Fish Company. Woo hoo! Blow your savings staying at the 'Castle' on this decadent feast!
