Motel Blue, Miami

I arrived yesterday with my children, the little girl was afraid to get out of the car as it looked 'scary' to her. What no one tells you is right next door is a live nudie bar, the traffic is LOUD, the rooms are SMALL and the floors were FILTHY. I looked into the room and it looked fine, but when I walked in it was a different story. The door locks are flimsy, the gaping space between the door and door frame a rodent could have invited himself in. I told the desk clerk that my daughter refused to get out of the car, and explained that her Christianity would not allow her to stay the night next to the activity next door and could he please cancel my credit card payment. He refused, but did say if I would have paid cash he'd return it... but his boss would see that the CC Payment was returned and he could get in trouble, so needless to say I will be contacting my Visa account. Right down the road 3 miles is a BEST WESTERN that is the same price.. and the rooms were TWICE the size, clean, well air conditioned and the service was GREAT. The Denny's across the street offers a 20% discount for those that stay at the hotel. DO NOT STAY AT MOTEL BLU.. the pictures are so NOT what you will get!

I booked a room at motel blu for my birthday weekend to enjoy with my friends, when i arrived to check in i was shocked to see how close it was to a strip club...literally right next to the motel. I checked in went into my room and it looked nothing like what was in their pics online. It looked like they spent all their money on their dining area and the ac in the check in lobby. As for the room they gave me...it was dirty, it smelled, and the ac wasnt even working. I told them about it and they showed me two rooms...i made sure to check the ac ....i chose the one after i made sure the ac was blowing cold. My friends & I decided to go get something to eat while we waited for the ac to settle in..mind you it was at 6pm when i got to the room and turned on th ac unit to 60 the lowest the ac could blow...when i came back to the room after 8pm it was hotter than the ac was blowing. I camplained to the office and the security guard slash apparently the maintenance guy checked it and saw it wasnt working...went back and forth tryint to get this settled and still nothing fixed the ac problem...i asked for the manager cuz obviously they werent going to help me and they told me the manager wasnt in...thank goodness my friend was a hard talker cuz she demanded to speak to the manager on the phone and threatened to call the news & police if we don't get my money back because there was no way i was going to stay in a room hotter than the lobby felt. After having to threaten the lobby manager over the phone about us calling the news station they finally gave us our money. I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE UNLESS U DONT MIND A DIRTY, HOT, AND SMELLY ROOM. MY ADVICE IS CALL THE NEWS STATION UP LOCAL 10 NEWS AND REPORT IT TO THEM. ITS NOT FAIR THAT THE LOBBY WAS COLDER THAN THE ROOM I HAD TO SLEEP IN. I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY FRIED FROM SLEEPING IN THAT OVEN BOX. I ended up going to an inn on us 1 and hallendale and it was the best experience i had. I ended up going to CURTIS INN and after the Motel Blu experience i asked them if i could take a look at the room 1st before i paid for it & they let me check everything 1st and i was sold. It was clean they had a fridge & microwave, wireless service, and great customer service.So my birthday weekend was saved by CURTIS INN..it gave me more than motel blu gave me and it cost less.

The owners are obviously trying to counteract all the negative reviews. Don't believe them!

because it is newly renovated its very nice. clean rooms clean bathrooms. clean towels. I love it. and a gr8 price. very cute decor. im here for memorial weekend 2009..KE&COR

no service, only 2 TV- stations, rough aerea old thin towels .This motel had seen a nicer time. It could be romantic, if it is in an other area.

There has been a great range of comments on Motel Blu in reviews. Here is what I can tell you from my personal experience which is happening as I write. Pluses: ++ great room rate for Miami area ++ conventient area to get to Miami, Miami Shores, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale ++ quiet ++ wonderful pool and pool area ++ secure parking ++ tile floors (none of those don't-know-what's-in-them carpets ++ quiet A/C that does not blow directly on the bed like many upscale places ++ free WIFI ++ TV works and get more channels than I get at home ++ really comfy beds!!!! Minuses: -- yep - two pillows per room - that's it -- yep - two towels per day (no hand towels, no face clothes -- no phone (but when was the last time I used a room phone in the cell phone age == missing hardware like towel bar -- no clothes hangers Not-sure-abouts? ?? location: anyone who is familiar with mixed use neighborhoods will not be threatened by the location (at the next corner is a Wendy's and a Taco Bell, a block away is a large Grocery Store, and in the streets around the Motel there are a mix of businesses, multi-family and single family homes, churches, and some night spots), but if you are more comfortable with suburbs where businesses are at a distance and people are not walking the streets at night, this might not be the place for you. ?? window shades - yes, they are the old roller type, and then may not stay down or close tightly to the window walls, but if you are traveling without a travel roll of duct tape (not to mention a good multi-tool device with screwdriver, etc) you are asking for trouble anyway. (And this is not a slam at Motel Blu, because I have had to tighten screws and tape shuts items in much fancier places. Hey, things fall apart and don't work, and it is unlikely that a skilled maintainence person is onstaff at midnight no matter how great the lodging. And as Arthur Dent could tell you (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) you should always be carrying a towel anyhow. Overall, were I need to be in this area again, I would stay here - can't beat the price and I hate spending hundreds of dollars just to sleep for 8 hours.

This was not what was shown on the website. The TV was broken, it was dirty and there was 2 pillows for 3 people. We asked for more and another TV, but they were 'all out' - go figure. It's also in a very unsafe part of town.

Basically you get what you pay for and it is a motel not a hotel. The bathroom was dirty when I arrived, the sink had wiskers and hair and dirt in it. You only got two towels. No Iron. No remote control. NO TELEPHONE!!! You have to have the cords and stuff for your computer inorder to get the "complementary" internet. If you only have to sleep there then..... it is what it is.....

I loved everything about this motel,huge pool, clean rooms, great staff and service. This is by far one of the best motels I have ever stayed in. LOVED IT!!!!!

This is as it says a “Motel” however it has some of the qualities of a Miami Beach “Hotel” two maybe even four times the price. A large clean and safe pool area and a new restaurant are usually found only in large Hotels. The rooms lacked a phone and the sheets and towels were not new or 450 thread I assumed so and brought my own. The rest of the room was clean. The location is good a $10 cab ride will take you to the beach or the design district and they have ample and safe parking.
