It used to be an excellent place to camp
We just came home from a week at Pomo. We have stayed there a couple of times before, and loved it. When we made the reservation, the lady said that they were full, except for one space that could accomodate our 29 foot trailer. That space was not as nice as most of the spaces in the campground. We noticed during the week, that a few of the more favorable spaces were vacant.
We too feel that they are ridiculous with all their nonsense rules. They also have fees and charges for services that most other campgrounds include in the price. We didn't use the bathrooms, showers, or laundry, so we can't comment on them.
The last day we were there, we pulled up to a speed bump near the office. I gave the gas a little nudge to get the truck over the bump, increasing the speed to 5 MPH. A "gentleman" around forty years of age had been standing next to the road talking to another guy. He suddenly jumped out at us with a really ugly look on his face, shaking his hand at us with all his fingers extended. That must have meant 5 MPH. He was yelling something very loudly, but I had my window up, and couldn't understand him. I glanced at the speedometer, and it read 5 MPH. I suppose he wanted us to stop, but I drove past him, and on to the campsite. I never really thought more about this until I read other critical reviews, such as "Yahoo Local" and found that the owners have an out-of-control employee (a Son?) that acts like a storm trooper. The owners have fully support his actions when answering poor reviews and/or complaints. I guess that is who we met. It's good that he didn't come up to our campsite.
The campground is generally clean and quiet (when there's no yelling!) The other campers are friendly and courteous. I didn't appreciate having the Camp Nazi accost us and act like a complete idiot. I doubt I will risk having another confrontation in the future. Last time for us! !
