A nice surprise!
By ,
The reviews seemed to be favorable. However, on our way out of Georgetown we stopped at Stumpy Meadows Resavoir where we asked a couple of guys about Ice House Resort (restaurant in particular, since we were already hungry). They told us not to bother....just keep on riding. We were to hungry by the time we got there. We nearly passed it, no major signage and very inconspicious on the exterior. We took the second drive way and pulled in. Probably about what you'd expect up in the mountains, far from anywhere. As soon as we walked in it was a nice surprise. The atmosphere was just homey and comfortable. Service was immediate and very friendly.....almost felt like she knew us for years. The five of us placed our orders and we each ordered something different. Our meals came in short order, hot and very, very surprisngly delicious! The five of us were actually surprised, even though the reviews were favorable. We all agreed that we'd make a mental note of this place so that we could stop by here again when we are in the area. The bar, a mountain bar, was also very comfortable and uniquely interesting. We didn't buy anything in the store. We did ask to look at one of their motel rooms however, they were all occupied. If you're in this area and want to have a nice, hot, comfortable meal I would definately recommend the Ice House Resort!

Our experience at Ice House
By ,
Went to Union Valley Resviour for some camping and fishing. My friend and I got up on saturday morning and didnt feel like cooking so we went down to Ice House Resort. Nice little place got some supplies at the store (very costly) and got some breakfast. The customer service was great with a hometown feel setting, the food was even better, my friend ordered the Ice house special and I had the Eggs Bendict, my god it was great my friend was loven his and I have never had Eggs Bendict with your eggs served any way you want and let me tell you scrammbled is the way to go. On are way out of we stopped off at the bar, a great "CHEERS" like feeling and the bartender BOB is a charecter and can make you laugh your butt off. I will return to Ice House again next year. Keep up the good service, great beer and excellent food. Two happy campers,we will return next year. Two happy campers

Convenient place to sleep
By ,
The room was extremely Spartan, but generally clean. Mildew smell came from outside the shower stall around the bottom. Staff was friendly, but no method was given to reach anyone after the store closed in the evening when a problem came up. There was no telephone in the room. There was no deadbolt or other inside security lock on the door and no peep hole. The bathroom window opened to the camp ground and had no way to secure it. During our two day stay the beds were not made nor used towels removed, but clean towels were placed on the chair near the door and the trash was emptied. Only one bed had a lamp for reading and there was only one vinyl dinette chair in the room for sitting, but the beds were comfortable. The only "amenities" provided were a tablet of soap and wire hangars in the closet. We expected a bit more for the price, but will stay again as it is convenient and adequate as a place to sleep.

I love it
By ,
I love going to Ice House. We stay at the sunset campgrounds at Union Valley but visit the resorts store and resturant often during our stay. I plan on staying in their motel soon.

Nice oasis in the forest
By ,
I have gone there for the last 3 years. It has all the amenities that you might require either staying there or in a campground nearby. The restaurant has wonderful choices in food and the portions are very nice and food very good tasting. The prices are very reasonable. This is no Denny's thank God!! Their burgers are the best and the breakfast cannot be beat. The service is laid back and brisk and the people that either work there or own the place are very helpful and very down to earth. They have a really nice bar there as well. If you want to get away and forget something or just want a nice meal other than regular camp meals then go here and enjoy yourself, we do!!! They also have the best and most well stocked country store I have ever seen at a resort of this type.

Tradition
By ,
I love this place. It is so peaceful and serene. Once you are tucked away at one of the campsites the outside world just disappears. You have a family atmosphere and amenities such as a bar, store and restaraunt within walking distance if necessary. The kids are in a safe enviroment and have lots to explore - creek, rock climbing, trails...ect Not to far is Ghirley Hole a place to relax in private most of the time if not all the time. You have a diverse group of people enjoy this campground every year which makes it so unique! We have a trip planned this June. My 30th B-day!

Use a Tree, not the restrooms
By ,
The Place is right off the main hi-way, the parking lot could be used as a bypass. The restrooms may have been cleaned last year. With somany lake camp grounds, this should be named the last resort.

A Jewel in a forest
By ,
Simple yet extravagant!! A well stocked general store, bar and restaurant welcome the traveler to these spacious abodes. A friendly staff and natural settings allure the common folk to a relaxing setting. Try their generous portions of delicious foods and daily specials at the restaurant. Also tipsy drinks at the bar. Lodging is primo with a bbq and fire ring at almost every front door, as well as a beautiful evening sky as nigthfall lures you into dreamland. Quiet and peaceful, elequent and simple... You have found ICE HOUSE. No need to go elsewhere. Nto to mention Ice House lake, a place for swimming, fishing and boating, located a short drive away.
