When we checked in we were given the pleasant tour of the facilitiy. We were shown our lovely room...a 2 room suite...and then we had a tour of the dining room and the tasting area. The fireplace was pointed out to us and we were encouraged to use it anytime we wanted, even shown where the firewood was located. We were shown the tasting room and were invited to have a glass of wine for every day that we stayed at the Chateau. Day and night the entire facility was available to us and the other guests. It was one of the most wonderful feelings of trust I have experienced in several decades of traveling. We got snowed in. Not a problem. We built a fire, drank wine, and chatted with the other guests. When it came time to get plowed out the management took care of that right away. I expect we will go back again and I hope we get snowed in again! Having the owners prepare our breakfast one morning while sharing their story of love and how they came to create the Chateau made for a wonderful start to the day. Be sure to ask them about their love story. It is quite a story.
My wife and I were hoping for a romantic getaway! However, when we arrived the staff seemed extremely rude. Our room was not even very clean! When we complained, it fell on deaf hears. A way overpriced experience. My suggestion is to look for a vacation spot that actually delivers on what it promises.
My husband and I decided to go to this winery for our anniversary. When we called to get a tour, they were very rude over the phone. In addition, they did not have any openings for a tour (we called a week in advance). What kind of winery only holds 3 tours a day. Every winery I have ever been to holds tours every hour to 1/2 hour during business hours. In addition, when we visited to get a wine tasting, we waited for 45 minutes before we were even acknowledged by the staff. After an hour, we gave up and left. We will never go to this winery again. We will stick to more customer friendly wineries like the ones in Missouri or California.
We just love Chateau Chantal. We are so looking forward to going back up to Traverse City this year. We started last year for 2 nights, stayed in the Labasque Room. One of the nights was a Christmas gift and we used it for our Anniversary weekend. This year we are going with another couple and are staying in the Executive Apt. We are so pumped and just can't wait. The Breakfast was wonderful and can hardly wait to see what is served this next time. There is not a thing to dislike about the place. We will be going back every year to enjoy the Beauty of the scenery and of coarse the wine.
