A stunning example of Greek Architecture featuring five elegant bedrooms furnished with period antiques. Amenities include private baths with jacuzzi tubs and a full breakfast served daily. Perfect for weddings and special events.
This wonderful historic home does back you step back in time as you enter the door. However this house is lacking the housekeeping services that are worthy that one would want to come back and stay again. The temperature control was a battle between 4 rooms and we didn't win. Not sure when the last time the coffee pot was cleaned, rug in the bathroom or even the bed spread that needs mending. Light Bulbs out and not replaced numerous places. We would have had breakfast the next morning but there was food from the previous day uncovered in the refrigerator that we feared would be on our plate. It has so much potential.
Our key was left in the mailbox but turned out to be someone else's key. Another guest picked the lock on our bedroom and felt sorry for the people that we walked in on with the original key. The pillow shams were disgustingly "smelly" the comfortor was filthy. The shower and the commode were dirty. The scrambled eggs had pieces of some other food in it and everything looked and tasted like leftovers. I would not even give this one star we were worried that we would come down with an illness. Even the jars of candy were stale.
Much of what the last person said is exactly the same as when we went there. I should have read the reviews first! The floors and carpet were badly need of cleaning. Very dusty! The towels were clean but stained. The list goes on. The breakfast was by no means gourmet or what they suggested they served on the website.
The Samuel Guy House looks beautiful from the outside, but inside the place was unkept, many stains on the carpet, see-through sheets, sloppy paint jobs, many burnt out lightbulbs, rusty water and our jacuzzi tub did not work. I also noticed piles of laundry waiting to be done and rooms from previous guest were never recycled in the 3 days we stayed. Our room had many dead and alive flies in it which probably came from the month worth of garbage piled outside the house. No one lives at the Samuel Guy House and the key to the front door was left in the mailbox for anyone to use. Breakfast was only fair - as the owner seemed to rush in and toss something on a plate so she could hurry away again. The house looks to be a nice place for a wedding, but I would not stay there again with so many other choices around.
This is a beautifully restored house. Unfortunately the bed and breakfast quality was lacking. My husband and I arrived after dark to find an envelope taped to the front door with the keys to the house and our suite. It was very difficult to see in the pitch dark to unlock the front door! Our suite was sparse at best and obvious that it had not been dusted in some time. The bathroom floor was dirty and the tub had mildew growing on sides. There was no soap, much less bathrobes as indicated on the web site. Breakfast was minimal with a biscuit, some type of grits with cheese on top and a strawberry cut into small pieces. I would not recommend the Guy House.
Been to numerous functions here and love the house. actually live about 50 yards away if that and recommend to friends and family all the time. great owners. all you could want in a b and b in natchitoches for a great get away weekend. one of the better in town.
The home has been restored beautifully, but has not been managed properly. Our room was sparcely decorated, hooks on the walls for pictures, but no pictures. No glasses for water/refreshments, no tissues either. Jacuzzi tub has two maintanence covers, both open. The toilet seat was loose and never cleaned during our three day stay. Furnished towels had holes and were thread bare enought to see through. Breakfast each day was sparse at best and poorly prepared. not much value for over $100 per night.
