The Douglas House, Key West

This was the second time that I have stayed at this property and I was very excited to get back there --- until we checked in. The balcony looked as though it was falling off, the sheets and blankets really need to be replaced and the couch had a rip in it. Overall the property needs some serious updating. The concept is amazing! A little down on Duval so you have some quiet, ample parking, and an amazing hidden pool and hot tub. Very large rooms make it a great place to come down with friends but I will be thinking twice before I stay there again. The staff was also less than friendly which is never a good thing! I love Key West and will be back but I will have to find another place to stay this time- which is really disappointing!

We only stayed here one night but definately would have stayed longer if we were staying in the keys longer. Nice clean rooms. Staff was nice. Found out about this place at the Key West info building.

My husband and I went to Key West for our honeymoon and found the Douglas House through a Tourist Information Center outside Key West. The Douglas House is beautiful, romantic and historic and comes with its own cat, a beautiful big Calico. We stayed at 2 different rooms at the Douglas House since we loved the place so much that we decided to stay another night. The rooms were very clean, spacious and cozy. The pool was the perfect size for a late night swim with attached jacuzzi. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location of the Douglas House is great. Restaurants, Bars, Attractions and Shops are all in walking distance. If you look for a romantic honeymoon/vacation spot, like historic and old buildings/areas, don't like lots of noise and people (party people all day long), Key West and Douglas House are perfect for you. We definitely will go back there next year and will bring a couple of friends with us.

The house itself is ok, but they got serious management problems and the staff is not willing nor able to help. I reported one item from my room missing and all I got was a "sorry, there is nothing we can do for you" from two different employees. They are not customer-oriented and neither very friendly- if you don't want to spoil your trip to the keys, don't go there.
