Lake Country Inn, Clear Lake

Liked the price. $200 for a week! BUT- can't sleep! There was this noise in the ceiling... like dripping water- with a BANG! Loud tapping noise- pipes must be in the ceiling. It really was annoying. Even with the TV and AC- you could still hear it. Plus- small room, and shower looked like it was going to fall through! :o( Not fun.

WE STAYED HERE EVERY YR. FOR 8 YRS. IT CHANGED OWNERS AND MANAGERS MANY TIMES SINCE 05. 05 WAS JUST OK. 06 THE MANAGER WAS A YOUNG MAN NAMED TOBY, HE DID EVERYTHING HE COULD TO PLEASE. 07 ANOTHER NEW MANAGER. NOT GOOD. WE BOOK A YEAR AHEAD OF TIME . CALLED TO CONFIRM. I DID NOT HAVE A ROOM, THEN I HAD THE ROOM,BUT NOT THE ONE I ASKED FOR. WE COULD CALL OUT NOBODY COULD CALL IN. I WILL NOT GO BACK. THEY STILL HAVE THE SAME MANAGER. THEY ALSO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DUST BYE BYE FOREVER

Rooms at this place are pretty small and really not all that clean. The location is not as convenient as other motels in the area. If you are there on business you may find it hard to use the phone. They do not have enough lines to accommodate guests. You may not be able to get an outside line and others will find the lines busy for hours when trying to call you. We found that you can find rooms like this at other motels for cheaper rates. If you read other reviews about this Inn you will notice that they were all posted on the same days and say the same thing. It indicates that staff or owners most likely wrote the reviews. There is not a lounge. You will not be able to get room service. Pizzas are not made on site and delivered to your door. If you just want a place to flop for the night it would be fine. But, this is not a property for families or business travelers.

I travel to Mason city on a regular basis and always stay at the Lake Country Inn! The staff are friendly and work to please. I have stayed at the chain motels and the Lake Country Inn has many more amenities. Each room has a refridgerator and micro wave. Free waffles and coffee in the morning. I have been to Clear lake Iowa on business several times. After poor service and overpriced chain hotels, I found the Lake Country Inn. I have been there several times and things keep being improved. Toby, the manager and his staff go far out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. I plan to visit often in the future. Thanks Toby. see you soon. Glen

the fact that they saved us lots of money. the workers were kind, helpfull and listened to our needs. they have wireless internet and we do not stay anywhere unless we have that as we need it for our jobs.

we recently stayed for about 4 days around christmas time and were very happy with the fact that the employees there made sure we had what we needed, I did not have a iron in my room or a blow dryer, and I called the front desk to inquire into one and the manager had someone go to the store and buy a new iron and hairdryer for my room, they were back within 10 minutes and I was very suprised HOW MANY BIG CHAIN HOTELS would have done that??? none! I will always stay there in the future my Husband and I have family in Clear lake and so we do travel there often.

the people working there treated us like we were royalty and like we were people instead of just another guest to create more work! We were given advice on where to eat, go for a movie, and the local events which were going on at the time of our visit. I will be coming back again!

We have been staying at the Lake Country Inn for years when we go to Clear Lake in the summer boating. It was never really fancy or anything special, but it was a great price and the rooms were decent, we recently stayed there and were very shocked by the positive changes which have taken place in a very very short time. They have newly resided the outside, new paint, new appliances in the rooms and even have a meeting room/lounge which is very nice as we sometimes will have our friends with us. The office has been newly remodeled and we were very suprised to see security cameras, we have never had any theft problems there, but it is reassuring to know that the staff there are doing their best to make sure that never happens. We can't wait to go back in the summer and hopefully the weather is nice and we'll be there all summer.
