Great B&B
By Kent, 08/27/08
Picked this place because it was "reasonably" priced for the Yosemite area. Definitely the best place between the B&B and Yosemite. The drive to Yosemite was long, but expected, thanks to comments I read. We stayed in the John Muir suite which had a lot of furniture, but we were OK. Huge bathroom. Complimentary bottles of wine along with soft drinks and juice. Breakfast was great; 3 courses. They took our preferences over the phone, and we received the beverages of our choice from the wine to the coffee/tea in the morning. Great views. We spent the first evening on the deck drinking our wine. Hosts were fine; we like to be left alone, and we were. I would stay here again if I was in the area.

Beautiful setting, peaceful accomodations.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/05
The views from the Lookout were amazing. The comfortable bed and fresh mountain breeze made for a restful sleep after hiking, whitewater rafting, and horseback riding in Yosemite. The gourmet breakfast was excellent, as well. While the ride to the Valley Floor may have proven longer than expected, we're also aware that it's difficult to find comparable lodging any closer without booking a stay at the Ahwahnee.

Great Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/02/05
This was the best place we could find in the area that offered a bit of home like essentials near a national park. On the drive to Yosemite we didn't find anything similar. The building itself is decent with nice wood structures. We stayed a few nights in the suite which is nice except for the bathroom. It smelled of cat urine and we had to keep the door shut. The innkeepers tried hard but the women is too overbearing and particular. She will move your personal items around in your room and stand over you while you eat adjusting your silverware etc. Breakfast is not enough food for hikers. There is no afternoon wine tasting a bottle is placed in your fridge and you do not pick it. Extra drinks in the fridge are nice touch along with the magazines in the room to read.

This is just a mom and pop operation, and found the place a mess. This is not a hotel. The dishes were still in the sink. Did not have any of the amenities stated. No golf course, pool, or spa. I showed up with my family and didn't stay. The hotel picture doesn't represent the place. There is no lake behind the house. It is down in a valley approximately 10 miles away.

They want you to think it is a resort but it is all a scam! You show up thinking you are staying at a luxury bed and breakfast hotel but the place is small, cluttered, and hot with no air conditioning. The picture shows lush trees and mountains. It is in a desert! Totally bogus! I am disputing the charges. This place makes the Hotel 6 look like the Hilton. I didn’t check in. You cancel and they want to bill you, but how do you know until you arrive. I passed the place three times and went in asking for directions to find out this was the place!

My son is allergic to dog hair. The place is full of it. If you have Asthma I would stay clear of this place. Two people run it and it shows it. They were not ready for us. The old guy met us what appeared to be his boxer shorts and a tank t-shirt.

We were planning to stay three days. I wanted to play a round of golf and the kids want to hang out at the pool. There is no pool. If you check different web sites you will different amenities.

Penon Blanco Lookout - Fantastic!!
By MusicMan, 04/27/04
I think my feedback to the inkeepers - (Margi & Wolfgang) speaks for itself. I'm enclosing the email I sent them when I arrived back home the following day.

Margi & Wolfgang,

It's hard to even try to express our gratitude and thanks for your generous and gracious hospitality. I've thought about what to write and it's hard to find words to describe how Sara and I both felt about our stay at Penon Blanco Lookout. It wasn't just the fabulous room, attention to EVERY meticulous detail, it wasn't the incredible view of Lake McClure, It wasn't even the most incredible breakfast that I have ever seen or tasted.... Margi, it was You that made our stay one of the most incredible and enjoyable experiences of our lives. I feel that You are someone very special, and your beautiful B&B that reaches the stars made me feel that you must be an Angel. Is it normal to shed a tear when you leave the innkeeper of a B&B? Well, then I'm not normal.

Thank You for sharing your home with us, we miss you already and wish you the best. Please keep in touch and if you ever need anything (help doing dishes) anything..... ( a friend to talk to)... anything.. Please let us know.

Thoughts and Prayers,

Troy & Sara
