2 reviews for HI-Ottawa Jail Hostel, Ottawa
Lousy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/29/07
Worst of the hostels I have stayed so far in Canada. Stuffy, no ventiliation, beds are quite squeeky (need replacement), Sunday morning at9:30AM , one of the only the 2 male toilets is out of toipet paper, one of the woman staff has been rude to some of the mates who stayed at this place. Bathrooms and toilets are bad. Breakfast for 5 dollars has a box of cereal, milk, bread and jam sure, jail hostelsounds exotic, but 80% of the people I have met over last 3 days have dissatisfaction about the hostel or the service. Better to check out other hostels

This is not a good place to stay
By Mate, 03/19/07
This hostel is in the HI-net of hostels and so one would expect this to be a right place to stay (usually, HI-hostels offer good service). This is not the case with this particular place. You might be very dissappointed. They try to look attractive to potential clients making a lot of advertising and saying how good they are but, in fact, this place has a very bad reputation. This is why they stopped accommodating local people. You might be "surprised" with the arrogance and incompetence of the staff, you might have your things stolen and nobody will care as nobody will care about you at all. Most people who go there just are not aware of other choices: it's easier to find a HI-hostel on the web or reference literature. Once you learn about other places, I'll never go to this "jail".
