This was the most relaxing week of camping we've had in years! The thing that initially attracted us was the fact we could access the ATV trail from the campground, we were able to keep our ATV's right at our site and leave from there. The sites are huge, and fairly private with lots of trees. The swimming pool was very nice- we spent a lot of time in there, and also on the playground-looks brand new! They also have 9 holes of mini golf and a nice game room. One thing we appreciated was that the campground was nice and peaceful, you know how sometimes you go camping and the parents get trashed and send their kids off to do god knows what? That's not this place! This is definelty a good family place. I read some reviews with negative things to say on how the owners manage the 'noise level"... And I just want to say we were able to play our radio at our campsite each night with no problems. People are allowed to have fun and kids were running and playing, but quiet time is enforced- which I personally love! You can tell the owners take pride in making this a great family getaway and they have done just that! We are switching our schedules around so that we can come back! The only downside is that it's almost 4 hours away- but it's definetly worth the drive!!
Maple Heights is such a wonderful campground. It's just like home away from home. The Reed family is incredible! They treat us so well each time we go up there. I can't imagine anyone staying at a family campground like Maple Heights would have something bad to say! Keep on rocking Reed family!
I'm a seasonal camper at Maple Heights and absolutely love it. The campground is clean, the bathrooms are clean and the Reed family are great hosts. The pool deck has been expanded, there is new playground equipment for the kids and they are in the process of updating the mini-golf area. It is a great place to stay and the Lakewood area has alot to offer as well.
I am really suprised by the negative reviews of Maple Heights! My family LOVES going there & returns several times every year! They are in the process of making a lot of great updates! The place was in rough shape when they took it over, but since they did, there have been improvements made every year. We have NEVER had a problem with noise & the Reed family is gracious & always looking to make our stay enjoyable! They are wonderful to our 2 small children! We look forward to making Maple Heights our family getwaway location for years to come! Ignore the negative reviews & give them a chance! You will NOT be disappointed!
We had a small group of just adults in their 30's-50's that camped together and if we would even quietly talk or giggle after 10pm, we were threatened to be kicked out. Our neighbors even told us that they didn't even hear us. But the owner and his nephew walk the grounds and spy and stalk you in the dark. We even whispered the happy birthday song so that we were really quiet and still wasn't good enough. If it is the same owners as 2009...they need to get out, they have no knowledge on running a business or how to treat good customers. Other campers around us that were there for the summer said they felt the same way and wouldn't be returning again since these owners took over. We left the next morning and didn't stay any longer! AWFUL!! It's too bad because Lakewood is a nice place to stay.
me and my family came here on a vacation based on wifi
we wanted a vacation but i need wifi for my business
pool was nice - playground was small - mini golf needs to be updated
wifi doesnt work from what i seen there wifi is a make shift system
they have routers mounted in trees with extention cords to them i have not been able to connect for very long then there "wifi" shuts down
we also had the radio on at night we were talking louder and were told to shut it off me personally if your only going to go camping its ok but if you need wifi i wouldnt recommend it to anyone
for them placing ads and telling people that they have wifi that is false advertisement
i have talked to a few seasonal site holders and from what i have gathered is that they wanna collect the money but not do anything to benefit the people paying
i was told there was a fire in a pole last year caused by too much electric being used and transformers overheating then they told the people to use there electric sparingly why dont they just take some money and upgrade like they should do with other things
they never even offered any compensation to anyone for the inconvenience this was a very unsatisfying 7 day campout /vacation
i would rather stop my vacation immidiately get a refund and find a different campground to finish my vacation but from what i know i dont think they will give me anything back THE MONEYS ALREADY IN THE BANK BEWARE VACATIONERS CHECK IT OUT FIRST
