Covered Wagon Resort, Piedmont

Had a blast at the Covered Wagon. Campfire evenings and OMG the TACOS !!!! Great place, nice very clean and affordable too. It's close to everything we wanted to do while in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We are going to be back at the end of July 2012.

Our family stayed at the Covered Wagon Resort in July of 2011, It was so wonderful!@ The staff went out of their way to please us. The cottage/cabin we stayed in was just breath taking. It was so spotless clean, beds were so comforable and all linens, pots and pans etc were furnished.How anybody could say anything negative about this resort is insane. It is just wonderful! I read one comment about how a couple did not get a refund for sturgis Hey!! It is sturgis and NOBODY gives refunds. This person also said her parents were coming to this resort for 40 and disappointed. After coming for 40 yrs something was right! Must of been a family member wanting to stir up something. Whatever, bottom line is that my family and I will be lifetime guest at the Covered Wagon Resort!!

There was hair in our bed. When confronted proprietor Penny Thorpe gave me the run around story and is avoiding my phone calls. She wont do anything to compensate me for hair in my bed. Her excuse was that someone has a key and got in and stayed there without her knowing it. Some way to treat a customer!!

The brochure states many untruths. The "Hot Tub" is a horse traugth. The "Hot" comes in the picture from the sun on it. The washer/dryer is in the women's restrooms. Only women allowed. The staff tryed overcharging our party to stay longer which was already paid for with receipts kept on my person. Spiders in lodging everywhere. Staff unfriendly, threatening, & pushy.

great hostess and pretty location. conveniently located between deadwood/sturgis and rapid city. cute cabins, lots of amenities. hot tub, laundry, cable and wifi. pine trees, deer and quiet--what more could you want?

The campground is very nice, very comfortable and everything you need is right there. But the best part is the people who run the place. They are friendly and will do everything possible to make you feel at home.
