Fabulous!!
By Sherrie, 8/22/12
Not sure who the host were in 2011 but the two guys there this year are great! Mike brings us up firewood so we dont need to carry it. Place is quiet.. bathrooms always clean. My husband and I love this place. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 6am. This is a place to relax not have blaring music and a drunk fest. Highly recomend!!

Great campground & great hosts!
By Lisa, 5/23/12
My boyfriend and I have been camping here for the last 3 years. It's clean, spacious and a great location. Every summer we book 3 trips. Spending 3-4 nights each time. Our 2 large dogs accompany us each visit. With that said I have read all the reviews posted to this site. I have NEVER had a bad experience with the campground hosts. If anything we have had great interaction with the hosts and their dogs. The location is great! Short walk to Swift river, biking and hiking trails. If your planning a relaxing trip to the mountains you'll wanna stay here. Enjoy!!

The Campground Hosts Should Be Fired
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/14/11
I have been coming to the Kanc Campgrounds since the mid seventies. They have a magic unlike any other area for relaxation, not being bothered, and having fun with your family. NOT ANYMORE AT THIS CAMPGROUND. The hosts remind me of guestapo. They are rude, intrusive, and think they outright own this state campground. I will not waste my time writing about why. All you have to do is look at the list of HARRASMENT COMPLAINTS below. They are all TRUE. Needless to say, they have ruined my summer vacation this year too, and I will not return to the covered bridge until the GARBAGE IS REMOVED. I hope the US forestry is reading these!

Save a trip.......
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/11
Having raised our children in these campgrounds over many years of camping, we were appauled by the way were treated. Thrity years of some of the best family memories were literally wiped away by our recent stay here. The hosts are rude, threatening and lack the basic social skills that one would expect from someone with the title; "host". We were treated like common criminals. Even visited by the local Sheriff's Deputy at the request of the "host" because we were talking. The Deputy used threatening and foul language and it was clear that his bravado was well practiced here. We had paid for our nights but chose to cut or vacation short. We are still baffled by why? We would love to return to another Campground but it will take a while to heal from our experience at Covered Bridge. The White Mountains are still breathtaking and we have met some of the nicest and genuine folks in the North Country.....we hope this is not what progress has done to this area.

Great Campsite/Location but Harassment is True
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/11
I have been coming to the Covered Bridge Campground for 30 years. It's a beautiful place with lots to do for all different types of campers. The nearby Swift River, numerous mountain trails, and a host of entertainment hot spots provide plenty to do for people of all ages. It feels far enough away from "civilization" to provide the right experience but is also close enough that you can get what you need if a quick run to the store is warranted. As a major downside, it is worth noting that in recent years the campground hosts have been VERY invasive, rude and overbearing. Complaints to quiet down are frequent, even when the noise-level isn't that high. We were also accosted by one host who complained that we had not paid our site fee. I explained to him that we had, noting that it was close to the cut-off time listed on the fee drop box, but that I did drop it off in time. He argued with me, essentially calling me a liar. Frustrated, we both walked over to the fee drop box together (a very uncomfortable walk). The host then opened it up and lo and behold there was our fee, neatly placed within the envelope. As it turns out, he grudgingly admitted to checking the box a little before the cut-off time. He did not apologize however, even during our uncomfortable walk back to the campsite where we then had to listen to his spiel about being quiet, keeping our fires low, keeping the site clean and rules about campsite set-up. A day later we were then accosted by a different set of campsite hosts who were riding around on their golf cart. They complained that our tents were set up too close to the edge of the graveled area of the site. We were forced into a brief argument with them after which they conceded that we were not in fact "off of the gravel" but that we were "pretty close" to being off of the gravel. I totally understand there being a reasonable level of authority but it should be delivered in the proper rations and to actual offenders. It would also be nice if it could be handled by someone with better people skills. I plan to go back this year after a two year hiatus. Hopefully, there have been some improvements since 2009.

Great Campground
By Danny, 5/29/08
Our family of four stayed at Covered Bridge over Memorial Day weekend, and had a great time. We loved the campground. Sites are very private with lots of space between sites. The Boulder Loop hiking trail that leaves from the campground is a great trail. We didn't notice any of the harassment mentioned by other posters. The hosts stopped by while we were setting up our tent to make sure we were the ones who had reserved the site, and one of them came by the next morning to warn us that there had been a bear at the campground the previous night, but other than that, they would just drive by occasionally and wave. We will go back to Covered Bridge.

Harrassment-2
By Matvey, 5/27/08
Absolutely agree with a previous poster regarding continuous harassment by the Hosts/Rangers. They also had a Sheriff to come by and go off on his power trip threatening to throw us in jail for being loud. We were not rowdy, and I got the confirmed by the hosts the next morning, they thought we were just too loud for light sleepers. I told them that we had 6 kids with us and they were all sleeping on sites nearby. I walked around the campground and knew that you may occasionally hear some noise, but it would not be anything more than any noise coming from a tree in a wind or a bird chirping nearby. Also, the hosts/Rangers were on the site while some cars sped by our sites where we had little children, and none of the hosts made an attempt to stop the car or tell them to slow down. As far as I know little noise does a lot less harm than a fast-moving car on the campground territory.

Harrassment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/20/07
While the area and scenery were absolutely beautiful, the campground "host campers" were almost on the edge of harrassement. They were constantly at our campsites making sure we were following the rules (which we were). They drove around the campgrounds through the day & night "reminding" us of the rules, which we were already obeying. It was very uncomfortable. Quiet hours were 6am-10pm. At 10:01 (literally!!!!) they came to our site & told us we needed to quiet down...we were barely making noise...we were just sitting around the campfire talking. Keep in mind that we had ALL of the sites around us so even if we laughed a bit loudly, nobody else was around. So, for scenery this is great, if you are going w/ a bunch of people, I would recommend finding a place that doesn't harrass you for talking w/ your friends after 10:00pm. We thought that was part of the camp experience. Our children were all asleep so we couldn't be that loud anyway!

Mother Nature at Her Best!!
By Joe, 7/5/07
My wife and I stayed at the Covered Bridge Campground and it was most certainly the best camping experience we have had!! Took lots of pictures, but the campfire and hearing the Swift River in the background were the best. It just goes to show you that in this day and age, you don't need the internet or a cell phone to enjoy yourself on a beutiful weekend in the White Mountains. Planning to return again towards the end of the 2007 summer season. Thanks to the care takers at the campground. Joe & Rachel Spinney, Maine
