chain sawing and cobwebs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/07
the campground sites were way too close. you could hear the people next door snoring and farting all night. Then there was people chain sawing throughout the night. ON top of that the bathroom probably have not been cleaned in 5 years. Cobwebs and toilet paper were everywhere. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!!! more like a concentration camp!!

Very Woodsy!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/07
My overall experience at the Mohawk Campground was good. The bathrooms are very old & dirty. It seems as though they are short staffed. The location is excellent, where else can you camp on Lake George with FULL hookup for their rates? The beach is great & very clean. It is a hike down a steep hill to the beach, but so worth the trip! As far as the security goes, that guy does an excellent job. He quieted down the loud & obnoxious young people next to our site to ensure that we had an enjoyable camping experience. He even went as far to tell them that if they didn't calm down and get the noise under control, that he would call the State Police. He was constantly walking by to make sure that things & people were under control. I did get a chance to thank him the following night. He was very professional & an extremely nice guy. He was very knowledgeable about camping as he is an avid camper himself. I would return to the Mohawk campground again.

Gross and Don't go There!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/07
We stayed there for 14 days. Bathrooms are outdated and not cleaned. Thank God we have a toilet and shower in our popup! Washing Machine only gives hot water-Dryer doesn't give heat, room is gross! I was told they are short staffed. Very much a party place with loud and obnoxious young people. They don't clean the sites and they remove the trash and the dumpster gives a nice odor to your site daily when not emptied. Security Guard, wanna be police man, works Fri&Sat till 2. Kept us talking for 2+ hours on both weekends. So doesn't do much. Today ATV's were going around the campground out of control-verbally as well...Would never never never go back! New owner doesn't have a handle and doesn't know how to run a campground! Absolutely don't go there! Security will be hiding behind the bush to spy on you-We have seen it! You will be watched no matter who you are~he will be watching. Noise throughout the night~Out of control people!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!

Campers Beware!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/07
We recently stayed at this camping site. During the day time, we really enjoyed ourselves. The campsite we choose was number 32 which was removed from the partying crowd and teenagers. There is a little bit of room between the neighboring sites, however, you still feel quite close. Water and electric hook-up is available at all 65 sites. The noise level at night was pretty high and there was no sense of security. The bathrooms were not maintained properly and are quite outdated. The hand dryers in the bathroom are right over the trash can so you have to be careful when using it. The Mohawk Campground would benefit from a serious update and some real cleaning at the very least changing the shower curtains which were filthy. They do not appear to clean the bathroom during the weekends. Bathrooms are just not a pleasant experience at the Mohawk Campground The laundry room was as equally scary, the washer worked well, but the dryer does not. We had to leave the campgrounds to go dry the clothes at a real facility. We will look for a different campground when we visit Lake George again.

A view from a camper
By jake, 07/10/07
I liked the help that i recieved in terms of directions and customer service there as well as i enjoyed the closeness to lake george and the surrounding areas being about a mile 1/2 away from lake george village and 15 minutes from boltons landing. The bathrooms are a bit outdated but the staff strives to keep the campground clean as much as they can.

Avoid at all costs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/07
We visited this campsite over the Memorial Day 2007 holiday weekend, having seen some decent reviews online and hoping to avoid the worst of the crowds at the public campgrounds in the area, but still be close to Lake George Village. We had to mail a check for one night's stay in order to reserve a spot (the rate was $34 per night for two people in a tent). When we arrived, we paid for the second night as well. We were then given a one-page list of the camp rules. We should have trusted our instincts, because rule #1 was that loud bass would not be tolerated at any time, yet there was a campsite right near the check-in area where the people were playing music with a loud, thumping bass. It was a sign of worse to come. That night, the campsite was packed. This included several campsites containing large groups of young adults who were drinking, shouting, screaming, and playing loud music. Their partying went on until around 3am. No staff ever came by to ask them to keep it down. These people ruined the night for us and many others. The next morning, there was six inches of standing water in the women's bathroom! The staff would not give us a refund, but we sacrificed the money we had already paid and left a night early. Bottom line: avoid this campsite at all costs!
