There was even a recent murder here ...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/09
The only positive review here was probably written by the owner. He too, only gave it 4/5. The ultimate horror! Rats, roaches and fifth. Disgusting, disgusting disgusting ... oh! did I tell you how disgusting this place is? I am surprised that the noble township of Weehawken allows this place to operate!

DO NOT EVERY STAY HERE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/9/08
Unlike most of the reviewers of this establisment, me and my friends didn't even get the chance to see how bad the rooms were. The old man at the desk would not give us the price quoted and this was after he would not take a resevation for two nights over the phone. We asked him why he would say one thing one day and say another when we were standing in front of him. His reply: "So,so,so,so,so sorrry no room". Back in the old days of Hoebokeen back when the Chairman was around stuff like this would not happen. Trying to take the money from honset people who want to come vist NYC and spend our increasingly dwindling cash is lower than low. If NJ or New York wish to even think about getting tourism back in shape, they got to send palces like this to court and find new, more sensable businesses who are willing to actually do there jobs.

This is not a hotel.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/29/08
The receptionist, a grumpy old man, greeted me like I had somehow just ruined his life. Careless as I am about such matters I whistle myself up the stairs to my room: - Dirty! - Everything except the bed, lucky me, had dust, spots or some unidentified goop. No closet - just two holes on the wall where I suspect some knobs used to bee. Useless TV (tho I'm no TV guy). Dark yellowish room light which made the room look even worse. Bathroom was very tiny and dark, and of course quite filthy. I'm a quite tall guy so I had to go nr. 1 from the side. 2nd night I spotted a cockroach, 3rd night a small mouse. The ambulance/police comes more often around the block that the bus + the ATM machine outside is for some reason equipped with some kind of amplifier so that people can notice, I'm sure, a transaction being made from 10 blocks away! The radiator make strange intense oily bubbling noises some days... Location isn't much to brag about - a bit creepy. Not too far away from the Light rail. ...all-in-all, this is not a Hotel but more like an abandoned old worn down apartment building which just happens to be owned by somebody. I can't see this place still being in business a year from now. If you are still thinking abut making a reservation, they've got delicious sandwiches at the place left to the Dunkin Donuts.

New York Nightmare!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/15/08
Don´t believe the fake "5 star" reviews!!! Don`t stay there! This is the worst and most disgusting place I have ever seen in my life! Plus: its extremely unsafe! The windows can not be locked- anyone could easily enter the room from the fire escape and the door locks were broken! Recently a girl was beaten, raped and murdered there! The bed and the shared bathroom were extremely dirty and disgusting- this comes close to health risk! There were holes in the wall and the door. I didn`t stay there a single night, because I was so scared. I reserved for two nights but checked out instantly without getting any refund (24 hours cancelation policy...) and risking to spend the night on the street. I wouldn`t even recomend this "HORROTEL" to my worst enemy!!!!

The worse Hotel you want to go..
By DPR, 8/7/08
This hotel is the worse, dirty rooms, dirty beds and sheets. We had mouses and roaches crawling on he walls. The bathrooms are horrible. The service dowstairs rude and not helpful at all... and on the top of it, expensive fo what it is. We check out after 1 night with no refund. It is OK, even for free I will not stay... Don't go or be ready for the worse..

Horrific Service
By Olivia Atalla, 4/19/08
The hotel had a fire in January 2008. Instead of storing their guest's items, they told me "we threw it away because we are not a storage. If you don't like it, take us to court." The nastiness, insensitivity, and lack of disregard to servicing their guests is apparent. Don't stay here if it was free.

Great place to stay, close to New York
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/08
Do not be put off by other reviews. We stayed in November 2007 and had a great time. The location of the Park Avenue Hotel is excellent with easy access to the ferry and buses at the end of the street take you to New York for $2. Our room was clean, tidy but basic. The central heating was working perfectly. Kitchen facilities were great with Dunkin Donuts and a great Chinese Restaurant close by. The Hotel offered the best internet access we could find in New York. Thank you to the owners of the Hotel.

Stay away from this so-called "hotel"!
By Lavy, 12/25/07
We chose this place because it's cheaper than others for our NY trip. But if there is a next time visiting NY, we'll definitely pay more for a "proper" hotel. This is the worst place I've ever stayed! Can people just name their place whatever they want? Should there be a standard for "hotel"? If I were him, I would feel bad of myself for those "Park Avenue HOTEL" on the front door! The neighborhood is very creepy. This place is freaking old, 5 floors and no elevator. There was rarely someone at the reception desk, and if there was, he didn't even bother to reply to our greetings. The room is small and dark, no fridge, dirty pillows and bed sheets. We stayed there for the whole week and they didn't clean up the room for A SINGLE TIME. Neither did they clean up the SHARED bathroom. The bath place was extremely disgusting, we tried to limit taking shower to the minimum. No one can properly stay at this place, except for all those bugs that we found on our bed.

Do NOT stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/23/07
This place is a dump. Last year this hotel made national headlines because an 18 year old girl was murdered there. It's dirty and security is apparently lacking. Everyone interviewed on the street after the murder claimed that low life people stay here. This is not where you want to stay if you value your health or safety.
