The oldest part of the manor house was originally a two-room cottage built in the 1690s. Two more rooms were added in the 1730s by the proprietors of what was then called Sylvan Retreat, a vast dairy and apple farm. An extensive expansion of the house took place in the 1870s. Five unique bedrooms that come complete with private bathrooms, queen-size beds with rich linens, and air conditioning are available. A lighted tennis court and a skating pond are available for guests to enjoy. A hot multi-course, country-style breakfast is served from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

More beautiful than the website photos
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/07/09
My extended family has been doing reunions at a number of b and b's and this is by far the nicest. The house and grounds are beautiful, restful and gracious. The innkeepers are lovely, unobtrusive people who let us really feel at home throughout the week-end. The house, which is really historic, has some little design surprises which make for real charm though it's not at all chock a block with antiques, and the grounds have an 18th and 19th century feel. We will return and are all thinking up reasons to come without the rest of the family. There is an amazing room for kids, great pool, tennis courts in good repair and plenty of spots along the creek for reading and contemplation. If you like to look at thoroughbred horses, that's another perk.

A fine art landscape painting view in every direction.

More casual feeling than some places I've stayed. I felt like I owned the home rather than supported someone elses business. Very easy for visiting New Hope. I am going back.
