Saint Rita Hotel, Beach Haven

I have been going to LBI for years and staying at the St. Rita. Perfect location near the beach, park, theater, restaurants and shops. The front porch is filled with comfy chairs and rockers, so when you need a break from the beach but still want to relax outside you are not stuck in a hotel room. Mrs. Coates is fun and full of energy. Sharing some porch time with her as she shares tales from her many years at the St. Rita is wonderful & charming. The St. Rita is more than Mrs. Coates' business, it is her home!! Being a paying customer does not give you the right to be disrespectful. And, given the disrespectful words in some of the negative reviews, I can imagine that these reviewers were no less respectful in person. If you are kind and respectful, you will be treated the same at the St. Rita. I will be back - again & again!

The place was clean and inviting. You thought you were home. The porch and thee yards were nice that you could have a bite to eat. It was quiet and that was one reason I liked the establishment. The guest were also cordial. We will return next year for sure.

the lady running the mediorce at best establishment is infamous for her insanity and mean ways ask any local or the chamber of commerce. all reveiws that are positive are made by herself. she snapped at my father and i and constantly asked about are where abouts she had a nazi like attitude towards any and all questions about wi fi or servises. ive been coming to lbi all my life and its always great but this place was truely an awful experience. mrs. coates constantly threatened to call the cops over me trying to retrieve my sunglasses and was openly pejudice truely she needs either a theripist or a stray jacket. id give it 1/10

Doesn't want the business save her the trouble and do not give it to her. Stayed one night and thankfully not more. It was memorial day weekend and her prices were 1/2 of everyone else's - thankfully we had plans for the night otherwise we would have spent the extra cash for some place else with a little more freedom and entertainment. There was no one else in the hotel but us AND I CAN SEE WHY NOW. She was very rude and asked personal questions about us, even saying that she doesn't let "everyone" stay at her hotel because she "doesn't have to" - blatantly admitting she judges her customers and treats them "accordingly." When a piece of luggage was left there she refused to cooperate in coordinating its return. Would rather repurchase it than deal with this woman ever again.

Went with my girlfriend, broke up with her at Buckalew's that night. She had the key so I slept in the hallway outside the room. Never saw the room. It was Memorial day weekend so everything else was booked. The hallway is very comfortable and charming, the carpeting had just the right amount of mildew.

The owner is sooooo nasty! We were passing by and were admiring her cute decor when she bolted out the front door and demanded we leave for fear of wilting her flowers. She yelled at my 8 yr. old for no reason. We were horrified by her apparent angry attitude...what a b*tch!

Owner hates being referred to as a B&B. Owner actually hung up on me before I could ask my questions. Despite the fact that they have availability tomorrow, they clearly were not looking to fill it for a night. Too many restrictions for a reservation, and owner did not seem to wish to even have a conversation on the phone, let alone take a reservation. Is this an actual business? or a sham to limit tax exposure & write off expenses?

I HAVE BEEN TO THE ST. RITA SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE. I FELT SAFE THERE, IT WAS CLOSE TO THE THEATRE AND THE BEACH AND THE SHOPS. MARIE COATES WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND I ENJOYED HEARING HER STORIES ABOUT HOW IT WAS AT LBI YEARS AGO. I HAVE FRIENDS I BROUGHT THERE AND THEY RETURNED AND I AM GOING IN ANOTHER MONTH AND LOOK FORWARD TO IT VERY MUCH.I RETURN EVERY YEAR. IT WAS GREAT FOR PEACE AND QUIET WHICH IS THE REASON I GO THERE.

very rude owner, extremely unprofessional, should not be allowed to deal with customers. she should seek some counseling concerning her anger issues! She is sure to ruin a potential good time.
