Hotel Alcott, Cape May

This was my second time back and I would highly recommend The Alcott. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. My first time there I felt like I had taken a step back in time. The hotel is 132 years old and it must have been upscale for it's time. It is in a prime location with easy access to the beach, shopping, restaurants etc. Although there is no on the premises parking we found it wasn't too hard to find a place to park. We actually didn't even need our car. One of the best features, I found, was their mattresses! I had the best nights sleep that anyone could hope for. Yes, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who truly wants to have a wonderful Cape May experience.

The room was fair room, very small, and fairly expensive. Requiring 50% up front when reserving 1.5 years in advance is also outrageous. They boast LCD TVs on the website, but that is only in some rooms (not mine!). All of these things are easily overlooked when it comes to the daily "how rude can we be to our guests" contest that I witnessed over three days. I experienced this attitude with two different front desk staff. It seems as if guests should be honored to be at their hotel and kowtow to the management at every whim. Need something at Hotel Alcott? Well, you should learn to live without because that is what you are going to have to do!
