Can't wait till next year!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/03/09
Recently, my family and I stayed at the Big Oaks Campground. We had a great time. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. The pool was also very clean and supervised. There were many activities for the kids to do. They had a playground, basketball court, a gameroom, shuttleboard, etc.. They had a lot of fun. There was also a well stocked store for the many items I forgot to bring and a beautiful gift shop. The best part was not having to deal with the traffic after we got there. They had a shuttle service that took you to the beach, outlet stores, movies, dining or just about any place you wanted to go. This was absolutely one of our best camping experiences ever and we can't wait to go back.

we liked this place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/09
folks in the office were very nice, friendly and helpful. Pool was clean and well attended. Campsite was ample and private. We liked all the trees. Kids loved the playground. My kids said this was the best campground ever. Shuttle to the beach was very convenient, and we used at least once daily. Restrooms were clean and well attended. We camped in a class c motorhome with full hookup.

Keep Looking!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/09
Cramped spaces... difficult to navigate if you have a larger RV (27' trailer). Nice pool, lots of shade throughout camping area. Some campsites are VERY DIFFICULT to get into. Roads are too narrow. Saw one camper destroy his awning on a tree while trying to navigate narrow roads. Another had to have a tractor come in to take him from the tree that he was pinned to! I will not return to Big Oaks Campgrounds- sites are too close together.

Great place...as long as you are Caucasian
By April, 06/22/09
My husband and I just got back from renting 3 cabins this weekend with some of our friends. We had stayed at one of the cabins a few years ago and liked how convienent it was to the beach and the cost was great considering the summer rates with the hotels. Because of the location and price we convinced our friends to make a weekend out of it over Father's Day weekend. When we first arrived, the first thing we noticed was the confederate flag flying right at the entrance. This was a little concerning considering my friends are African American and have small children. We chose to ignore it and as we drove through the campground, we saw several more. Our first night we were sitting out front of the cabin playing cards and one of their security guards kept walking by our cabin while carrying a confederate flag. This was extremely hurtful to myself and my friends and could not believe that in 2009, there are still people, more specifically businesses that engage in such tasteless crimes towards humanity. Needless to say regardless of location or price, we will never return again.

Convenient but don't ask for help
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/08
The campground unfortunately is one of just a few campgrounds in the area. We stayed at Big Oak because it was convenient. We arrived at dark, someone had left a "dump" mess in our site that we had to bury. It took 40 feet of hose to reach the dump (we had 30 feet onboard). When we went up to the office to ask for some help (money off of our over $200 cash paid already (they only take cash), a different site or some hose), we were very arrogantly told "I'd rather see you out on the highway than give you anything free", I have never camped anywhere and received such treatment. When my husband checked in, he heard this same employee/owner tell someone on the phone "if you would shutup, I'll give you directions...". It is made very clear that your business is not necessary to them. If you need the convenience, stay away from the office, it's a shame, it could be a nice place if nice people ran it.

Best campground for comfort and convenince
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/08
We have been tenants of Big Oaks for over 14 years. The pool and camp store is within walking distance from all camp sites. Convenient to shopping (also outlets), many nice restaurants (some available without getting on highway), Rehoboth Beach and Cape Henlopen State Park. Bus stop in campground. Like the nightlife (close by) but don't want to drive - take the bus. Short distance to bike trail. Owners provide fun activities and/or entertainment for the whole family- something new every weekend. Friends and family have all loved staying with us at Big Oaks. They have varied camping options, cabins, primitive, weekly and yearly sites both wooded and sunny. Would recommend checking it out!

Been there two times and going again this year. Really nice and clean place.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/21/07
Laid out real nice. Clean pool. Close to the beach and outlets. The only change I see need to be done is one more bath house between seasonal and pool area.
