Volunteer Park Family Campground, Heiskell

When I checked in I filled out a registration form. Usual stuff name, address, car info and the days I was going to stay. I paid with a credit card and I knew the daily rate so I was charged for 2 days at the daily rate plus tax. I am not sure how or why the previous reviewer got charged for 3 days when they were only staying for 2. That just does not make any sense to me at all. I found the park clean the people friendly and it is very convenient to all of Knoxville, Pigeon Forge, The Tail of The Dragon, The Devils Triangle and many more beautiful rides in East Tennessee.

Check in form indicated check in day on a friday and checkout on a sunday which is 2 days but form indicates 3 days and they indicate friday thru sunday as three days and not per night. Disputed this an only talk to non management about this. Management would not discuss this. would not return calls. Lots are small, could not even start a fire or you would melt you awning. Look out of your side window right into your neighbors. will not stay here again.

We like to have trees around us. If you have a tent or a smaller unit, like our pop-up, you can camp in the upper loop. The main bathhouse next to the store/office is very nice and clean. The only thing my husband would have changed is that they put a fiberglass shower insert in the men's shower and it's really tight width wise. In May they also open the private one-person bathroom. It's near the tent area. Our friends have a large RV and they wanted a pull-through. Those are close together, as is the case almost everywhere you go. We stay there when we visit our daughter or go to the University of Tennessee.

Obviously the person who warned about drug traffic was mistaken. Please check all reviews about this wonderful campground and draw your own conclusions. It is warm and friendly and you could eat off the bathroom floors. The location is great for snow birds and summer travelers alike with areas to fit all campers needs. The store is well stocked with necessities and the staff is helpful and friendly.

The bathrooms were very clean. The lady in the office was very friendly and asked one of the workers to lead us to our site so we wouldn't get lost. The laundry room didn't have a change machine, but we were able to get change from the store.

We have stayed here twice. Both times we were totally happy with everything. The owners are very friendly, available and helpful. The big swimming pool was a delightful treat. The campsites are arranged very nicely. The laundry room is great. There is a limited library to take and leave books. It was small but I found one I am still enjoying-it could be expanded. The lots are nice and shady AND quiet. The owners are very visible to help any way they can. There is a church right next door. We will definitely return. We recommend it to one and all. We arrived after 11 hours in the truck WITH the cat and dog! The people there were awesome...showed me several places, all were partially shaded and level. Everyone there works hard, really! BATHROOMS: could not have been cleaner POOL: awesome and clean BREAKFAST: yes, breakfast! great food. 2 points: limited fire wood and it is right near a road that accomodates trucks...kind of noisy if you are right there. BUT...YOU MUST GO THERE IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA. THE PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY, ACCOMODATING AND THE PLACE IS VERY CLEAN!!!
