Ventana Campground, Big Sur

Perhaps the people who wrote negative reviews are merely trying to keep everyone else out but this is an amazing find. The State (CA) campground are only a few dollars cheaper but offer much less for the money. This is a great place unless you love RVs.

Went there about 4-5 yrs ago on a suggestion. Although it was a little pricey it is, what I feel, the perfect campground on Calif 1 Hwy.Each site is small but VERY private. With the stream running through it and trees everywhere, it's a place you can read, reflect, and re-charge your energy for when you return to civilation. Out side the showers (which were great) the campground does NOT have anyother amenities. There is a small roadside store down the road but going there can also lead to other 'adventures' on 1, so even a short trip to pick up something needed can lead to a day of 'exploring' the coast. Because it it small, only small RV's are able to manuver in the campground. It's set up mostly for tent camping.
