Perfect spot to stay

It is right on the beach. There are chairs waiting for you every day. There are showers to was off your feet before you head back in to your rooms. The beach was clean and white. Our condo was cheerful and clean. It had anything you needed for a long stay. The security of the resort was great. The grounds were kept very clean. It is located right next to the state park. We could see dolphins from our balcony in the mornings as we would eat our breakfast before we went out to walk the beach. The only down side was the front desk would not answer the phone.

Stay away!

This was our 5th year going to Silver Shells for a family Spring Break. Last year the college Spring Breakers started to show up. This year they far outnumber the families. Drinking, noise, loud music at all hours, unruly crowds of college kids everywhere. I complained to the beach patrol and they shrugged. I complained to Silver Shells management. They did nothing. Have nearly been hit out on 98 (main beach road) every single day. Police only show up for the wrecks and there is at least one every day. Just another Spring Break destination. If you want a quiet family-oriented vacation, this is NOT the place.

4th time there.....all great!!!

As stated, this was our fourth stay at Silver Shells, Destin. We found everything fine, reception allowed us to check in a couple of hours early. They were friendly, responsive. Condo was clean, well furnished and all supplies there. Some people complain about long walks, and not "children friendly". They might not understand the meaning of "resort", which typically implies a large property. We had 3 grandchildren, all two, and they did fine. There is a children's pool, pool side bar/grill, very nice lagoon pool, beach amenities are available. We will likely return for a 5th visit to Silver Shells. Expensive, yes, but you get what you pay for. One of the very nicest in Destin.

Silver Shells Too Large

The grounds and condo are beautiful. The resort is too large to get around with children easily. Every where is a long walk, no matter which building you stay at. The employees at the Beach Snack Bar are very rude and unfriendly. Will not return.

St.Maarten-not what we expected

Paid $350 a night, and after switching from our original condo upon arrival, due to lack of cleanliness, trim work falling off the wall, smoke detector ripped off the wall, to name a few, we had to settle on a condo that was not much of an improvement (after viewing 5). These condos have not been kept up properly with maintainence, cleaning, etc. If you have high standards for your surroundings while on vacation, this is not the place for you!

Great Experience!

I loved the quality of the rooms and the gulf front property, and service. It is a little expensive but worth the money. Every morning we could see the dolphins feeding. What a beautiful beach! We look forward to staying there again very soon!

The resort is fabulous.More than I expected and was pleasantly surprised. Looked even better than the pictures on their web page. Great Location,mid-Destin. Luxurious and spacious condos with full kitchen and laundry. Located next to Henderson Beach Park. Has lots of amenities on site; luxury spa, restaurant, beachside snacks and food, nice pool, tennis, basketball, fitness club, chairs and umbrella set up. We visited in the falls and got great rates. Rates are higher in the peak summer months. If you can go in the off season, rates are more affordable.
