Could be better
By mustangkay, 8/26/12
We booked a room and paid for tickets by phone before we got there. Now the price for the room and tickets were a better deal then just buying tickets alone. We booked a hotel room which we will never do again (this room is in the older section of the park). The room was horrible. The first room they gave us was so gross and in bad shape, we asked to move to another. When we went to our next room, it was almost just as bad. There was mildew along the tub/shower. The coffe table and one of the lamps were broken. The frig made a horrible screaming noise. The televisions set were old. The whole room was so outdated. And the place just made you feel dirty. It didn't seem like it was clean. We walked around with our shoes on the whole time and checked the beds to make sure their were no bugs. Now that's bad. This park makes tons of money and should use it to updated there facilitices in the old section of the resort. And they have several pools that stay open late for the guest at the rest (after the park closes) which was nice. They have a swim up bar/pool that is suppose to stay open until 10 p.m. Well we looked forward to having a drink while the kids played in the pool; instead the pool bar closed early (at 9:20 p.m.) and we missed out. If you say you have something that stays open to a certain time, make it stay open. The pool had people drinking and kids playing, why would you even close early? I was just in shocked that they would close tha pool 40 mins early. Next, I am shocked that this family resort allows smoking in the park. Not be be rude to smokers, but my family is a non-smoking family and we prefer not to be around smoking and their are probably several other families that feel the same. There was smoking outside the hotel rooms which you had to walk by all day long. Also, there was smoking through out the park. I just can't believe a family friend place would allow smoking in the resort. Now, the new section was very nice. Well maintained and the bathrooms where in better shape. The new section was the better part of the park. If we would of known that, we would of spent more time in the new section instead of the outdated and old section. The staff was not as friendly as you would of liked. Now, some were great but for the most part they weren't very friendly. You are here on vacation and spending a lot of money to be here so you would think the staff would be helpful and friendly but they aren't. I guess you have to go to disney world/land to be treated well on a family vacation. Besides all of that, we had a blast at the park riding the rides. The rides were very fun and great for the kids. And the place is very kid friendly even for the younger children. So if you are planning a trip here just keep a few things in mind, spend most of your time in the newer section,do not stay in the older part of the resort, and watch your kids because it does get crowded.

two star MOTEL
By Pam, 7/23/12
Recently I booked a vacation for my children and my mother who was flying in from California with my nephew. So I made reservations looking at the rooms that are listed under the Schlitterbahn resorts. I was truly disappointed when we arrived and unloaded are luggage to find a motel from the 1960’s with the furniture to match. We were offered your suite #245 that was not at all what we expected to find. I had told my mother about the beautiful rooms that have been remodeled to look over the park and they actually looked like “Tree Houses.” The room we got had roaches dead and alive throughout the cabin; the sofa bed looked as if someone had used it to sleep on outside. The beds were small and the bedspread dirty, the patio had a table no chairs. Although there was a wooded picnic table with graphic sexual and crude language engraved all over the table top for my young children to see. The staff was very nice and stated that they were sorry about the room but that was the only one available. Although #245 is not their “Best Room.” The quality of the rooms need to have an Extreme Makeover before I will ever consider playing $240 night plus park admission of $25 per person to stay at Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels!!! I am really disappointed with with quality of the rooms and lack of "true" advertisement for a room that is more of a 2 star motel than a resort.

Way overpriced and confusing
By THOMAS, 6/15/12
The kids liked it - I hated it. I asked for my money back so I could leave & they & my husband could stay & they said no. No directing signage anywhere & asking the staff does no good. No misters, no fans. Way too crowded. Way too expensive.

You Cannot Go Wrong,
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/11
Now i have no idea at all what people are complaining about this place. I have been going here since I was a little kid and I still love this place. I'm a Houston native so anything besides splash town is great. If you are from Houston you will definately love this place since parking is free, the cost is the same as splashtown, and you can bring your own cooler (you really can just leave your cooler anywhere, no one ever bugs it). I have no idea what people are complaining about, I recently went and it was better than i remembered and I hadn't been there in about 5 years. The place is large, the water is cold so it feels great compared to the texas heat, and also the older part of schlitterbahn is quite shady (still wear sunscreen though). To be honest anyone that complains about this place is either A) just someone that can't have a fun time period or B) is out of there mind. It's a great place for kids and also teenagers heck even adults can have fun if you make the most of it. The waits are kinda long but you have to expect that from the worlds best water park (thats why i got a 2 day pass for my weekend, one day at the old park, the other day at the new.) I highly recommend this, you can't go wrong, great price, nice area, and the people there are always nice to me. You will have fun, if not you are one grouch.

DISGUSTING
By M, 8/6/11
Didnt like ANYTHING about this park. Way to overpriced for the buc. Lines to long, people were getting overheated. The price of food was ridiculouse. No parking, the water was disgusting. Not enough tubes. I cant imagine anybody going there wanting to go back. Will not ever go again, what a disapointment for all the hype.

What a rip-off !!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/11
I'm sorry but $90 bucks for a water park where you have to stand in line for over an hour just to float in the water for 15 minutes and with the ride desigb being un-safe. They have staff stationed at severalf locations of the original park water rides to prevent you from hitting the sides and/or to keep moving (you get caught in some of the current locaions and can not get moving on your on) The staff could not answer simple questions such al "Where are the lockers located?". The newer park is somewhat better but there is so much consturction that it is a mess. Lockers are 1 foot X 1 foot and cost $9 bucks. We were very disapointed and left early. I suggest visiting any other water park in texas before goint here.

just saying....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/4/11
im not really writting a review, but i am one of the lifeguard that work at Schlitterbahn and ive noticed some of the reviews say something about rashes from the rivers and i know why: all of our Main Park (except for the hot tubs and kiddi pools) uses untreated river water from the comal. all of our signs says that we do. if you are unused to swimming in river water like that, then you have a chance of a small rash. im very sorry that those incidences ruined your day :( i hope you guys will still come visit us and not hold it against us the next time. we all try very hard to avoid incidents but sadly that is one that we can not control.

ITCHY RASH! 3 VISITS- 3 RASHES!!! NEWBRAHNFELDS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/19/11
DID NOT LIKE: We have come to Schlitterbahn every year for the last 3 years. Every year without fail, I get an awefull itchy rash that takes at least 3 weeks to finally be rid of! Been to the doc with it. Thought it was scabies or a heat rash. Nope. My son has it worse than ever this time. I will probably take him to the doc on Monday. Its been 3 weeks already. NOT COOL. I dont think they use chlorine in the Lazy river. That may be the problem. Plus all those tubes that everyone else uses. Not sure but I wont be getting in again! ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM?? WHAT I DID LIKE: My kids had a good time. We went on a weekday this time.

Rash on skin from Schlitterbahn
By people, 8/19/10
Went to Schlitterbahn, New Brunsfel, Texas on August 15, 2010. Noticed that I started getting a rash on my leg and did NOT have it before I went into the park. Just wondering if anyone else has a rash from that day? I'm from Texas and go there every year. This is the first time this has happened to me.

good and bad things about it
By Guest, 8/8/10
This is my second year with season passes, overall I like it better than Fiesta Texas and Seaworld's waterparks because those get packed with no elbow room even til closing time, I go usually later in the day to Schlitterbahn and can find some enough rides and pools that have short lines although the funnest ones always have longer lines. Some complaints I have is this waterpark is it is a bit expensive but still seems kind of old and dirty in places, the kids pools are easy to lose your kids in with all the blind spots, this "family" waterpark needs to have family friendly music-not with cussing as they have it now, and there needs to be more non-smoking sections (there are none) we don't live in 1950 everyone knows smoking is totally unhealthy. The park seems a bit dirty and not very modernized except for a couple of the rides in the newer areas which really make up for the bad parts, they don't have uphill water tube rides at the other waterparks in Six Flags and Seaworld, also the hot tubs are a great idea although usually are just warm not hot. This is a good park for older kids once you get the hang of how schlitterbahn is set up but I hope they edit their music and turn it into a non-smoking park. This place also gives you a lot of exercise which is a good thing.
