Anna Maria Island's Pirates Den, Holmes Beach

What value! The units are very roomy, bright and clean. The pool area is extremely comfortable with a clear clean pool and plenty of chairs and lounges. There is a covered screened in area for shade with numerous tables and chairs. There are gas grills for everyone. There are bikes for you to use. The ocean is just a few steps away across the street and beach chairs and beach umbrellas are also available for your use. Maree and David are the ultimate hosts! Ask and you shall receive. They are so accomodating and a great source of info regarding the area. We have already booked for next year and are so looking forward to our next visit to our new Anna Maria "home."

Our stay at the Pirate's Den was everything we hoped it would be and more! We loved the cozy cottage,our own private patio and the heated pool. Everything was within walking distance - the beautiful Gulf beach, shopping and restaurants. The grounds are spotless and beautifully planted. A Bird of Paradise was even blooming during our visit! We cannot say enough about Maree and Dave. They were friendly, helpful and a lot of fun! We will return, most definitely!!!

We stayed here for a weekend wedding trip and were very happy with everything. We were in apt 4 which was very clean and had everything we needed. The office staff was very hospitable and we felt at home. We had a short walk to the beach, and enjoyed the balcony view at night. Great value for the price...highly recommended!!

We just spent 3 nights in apartment #4 and were very pleased. I did alot of shopping around and found Pirate's Den to be the most reasonably priced. The apartment was spacious, clean, and from the balcony we could see just a little bit of the gulf- which was one block away. Maree and Dave were very kind, and we really felt like we were staying at someone's home instead of some generic hotel. If I ever need a place to stay on Anna Maria again, I will stay here.

We had a terrific weekend at Pirate's Den. The room itself was great- clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. Very convenient with the short path to the beach just across the street and a Publix grocery store to the rear. And Maree and Dave's kind hospitality exceeded our expectations.

Anna Maria Pirate's Den was a pleasant surprise. Apartment #6 was spacious, super clean, well-equipped and quiet with a parking spot right in front of the door. We felt like it was our own little house. Just across the road... a wonderful warm, white-sand beach with an incredible sunset. Pirate's Den is located on a quiet part of Holmes Beach. It is a very family-friendly environment, but not at all frenzied with children and activities, so that we were able to relax as a couple. The Publix supermarket is within walking distance, as is CVS, Walgreen's, a seafood restaurant, a sushi place, et al. Very convenient. Best of all are the owners. Marie and her husband are so nice and laid back. They make you feel right at home. We will definitely come back.

Delightful,comfortable,home away from home! Owners are simply brilliant! Beach right across the street. Shopping in walking distance. Clean and comfy..the only thing I did not like is when it was time to leave. BUT, we will be back! Would not think of staying anywhere else! We looked at places on the island that had been advertised, Pirates Den was the only one that was honest about everything they had posted! To me, if a place needs to be deceptive they are wasting my time. Pirates Den is absolutely 100% as it states on its site,frankly,I felt they had understated how delightful it was! The children totally loved it...everyone was happy! Thank you Dave and Maree most sincerely!

Loved the different apartment, all feel like home! Comfortable, very clean everything is there. Markets close, beach across the street, the owners are simply BRILLIANT! We go as often as possible! Maree and Dave and their special place make for lovely, quite and welcomed weekends. Frankly, the only thing I don't like is when it is time to leave. Thanks Maree and Dave for all the great times we have had there, will be back as soon as possible! I mean it when I say you guys are great, going to Pirates Den is simply something special to look forward to! See you soon Rhonda

Anna Maria Island is a rare find in Florida. The people who recommended it first to us described it as a slice of "Old Florida" that for the most part has passed from the scene which is a lost for us all. The proliferation of high rises and general creep of "urban sprawl" has basically covered the state except for the oasis of Anna Maria Island. Here time seems to have stood still. The people are friendly, the beaches are superb, and life seems simpler. High on the list of things that make the island special is a jewel of an Inn, Anna Maria Island's Pirate's Den . Like the best of Anna Maria Island, what you see at Pirate's Den is only part of what you get. The facilities are larger than most newer Inns making it generally more comfortable. The private patios and balconies off of each unit contribute to the feeling of a home away from home. The location of Pirate's Den is very conveniently located at one half of a block off of the beach yet only two blocks from all of the necessary shopping areas The sparkle of the jewel at Pirate's Den however is your Hostess and Host Maree and Dave Rodgers. They add the special charm that bumps this older property to the elite status because to stay there is to become a part of the Rogers's extended family. I can't think of a nicer compliment to pay to an Inn and Pirate's Den is very deserving of that compliment Bob Coffer

We stayed in apartment #3 back in '04. The kitchen door opened on to the screened walkway where we ate most of our meals. Outside we got to watch the geckos playing. It's a short walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Dave and Maree were wonderful hosts. The apartment was clean, nice, and bright. It was as I had always hoped Florida would be! When we go back to Florida, the Pirate's Den is where we will be staying.
