Sunset Beach Resort, Phuket

We stayed at the Sunset Beach Resort in Feb 07 - I was a little worried as I had heard mixed reviews about this place - most of them not so good! But we were pleasantly surprised with the place (maybe we had low expectations). Although it is not right in the heart of Patong Beach it is really easy to get in there (Shuttle bus travels every half hour to and from Patong and the Resort). If you are too late to miss the shuttle bus there are Tuk Tuks everywhere and it only costs about 200 baht to get back. The pool was really nice, as well as the rooms (although on the first night we were aparently "upgraded" to a deluxe suite - far from delux e- we had to get 2 lifts to get there, it smelt, and looked over the roof of the other section of the resort). However, our room for the rest of the stay was great - was smaller but much nicer and more convenient as it looked over the pool area. Prices in the restaurant are reasonable - we ate there most days - could probably find cheaper in patong but we opted for convenience. Overall, I would reccomend for anyone to stay there..especially if they want to be away from the business and seediness of the centre of patong.
