good:
quite nice rooms, nice and clean and well equipped
bad:
poor position with a long urban walk to the beaches
OTT service from the manager
poor and measly breakfasts
street noise
expensive compared to other local hotels
run-down marbella (sorry had tomention that but it's true - all quite depressing)
Poor location unless you like backstreets 15mins away from the beach!
Very few facilities here and certainly not what we would have said to be a 'boutique hotel!'
Mediocre breakfasts with no 'spread' waiting for you in the morning as would befit a proper hotel.
The rooms are very clean and quite well equiped, but too noisy for our liking. If you really do still want to visit this place (!) then make sure you are in the newer block and not downstairs.
There are much better and more reasonable places to stay in the area and overall we couldn't recommend La Villa. We would give the place 3/5 if it where cheaper but at this cost it gets a 2/5.
It's such a shame that la Villa is rated so highly on another review website and that Expedia have such a hold on that website no negative (& honest) reviews are ever posted for this place. Belieive me, this place is no more than average and so many people have been disappointed with their stay but not allowed to post there experiences elsewhere. So thankyou Yahoo for allowed this unbiased forum to exist.
La Villa Marbella is not a hotel but a posh B&B perhaps with several rooms in different blocks in the old town. Rooms are nice and clean but alittle noisy at night with plumbing an drain noise.
For us it's way too far from the sea front with a very busy 15mins walk to get to the nicer beaches and restaurants.
Breakfasts are abit of a disaster and service is no where near as good as you are lead to believe.
This place obviously has a huge tie-in with another online review website (****advisor) with ludicrously constant glowing reviews!
However, it's not such a bad place for a short stay; a couple of nights as a touring base perhaps.
Reading all the glowing reviews elsewhere you would be tricked into thinking this was the best hotel in Spain!
Fact is it's not really a hotel at all. It's a collection of small rooms in different buildings on a narrow street in the old town.
Service is sketchy especially if you are in the wrong block with no staff actually on-site at all & CCTV the only link with the main building such as it is.
Breakfasts are a disaster with the pre-ordering system completely useless and service slow and unpredictable.
Overall very very disappointing and expensive for what is actually on offer.
Don't believe all the glowing reviews elsewhere, this place really is suspiciously overrrated in every way.
