There have been several instances where taxi drivers at the airport have charged tourists much more than the normal price and/or they have brought tourists to guest houses / hostels with which they are co-operating. If you want the pick up service, please send us an e-mail with information about your flight number and arrival hour.
the service was great. Christian, pedro and the other guys have plenty of time for their guests, and theyre heaps helpful. pedro makes a great pisco sour too.
the location was just up the road from the park overlooking the ocean. beautiful spot.
not far to go to get to the centre of miraflores - just walking distance.
i borrowed their surfboard and skate board. theres a skate park not far away, and the waves were pretty good.
plenty of dvd's to watch and chill.
the guys helped me with my spanish, and they were eager to improve their english.
the only thing that could improve was the lack of internet access. only one computer to share - but it was free, and the internet cafe was only up the road.
honestly, theres nothing negative i can think of.
next time im in lima i'll definitely stay at family house again.
to Christian and Pedro: sorry for the lateness. you guys are legends.
and thanks for dropping off that bike pump for me.
The best thing about this place is Christian and Pedro. If you are new to the Lima/Miraflores area they give you the do's and dont's. Give you a simple map that they mark places good to visit. On my last trip to Lima I paid them a visit just to say thank you for making my first visit to Peru a wonderful memory. I will stay there again!
This is just a quick note to highlight the hospitality I received whilst I was in the 'Family Backpackers' Peru. I realize that being friendly and helpful is part of the industry of which they are in, yet the guys take it to a different level. When Traveling to Peru I had many differing ideas to what to expect, some good, some bad. However with their practical advise I soon felt informed and at ease. Thus, my initial stay in the hostel allowed me to settle, meeting brilliant people along the way.
Since arriving home and beginning all of the mundane chores of which they call 'normal life' I look back at the time I spent in the hostel; getting drunk on Pedros pisco sowers, new years with a bang, and meeting great people as bloody good times!
Christian and Pedro are both a pair of legends who I will never forget and I wish them every bit of luck in the future..
We arrived here in the middle of the night by the perfect pick-up service. Pedro welcomed us very warmly and helped us with our first explorations around the city. After three perfect and cosy days we left but decided to make a reservation for the end of our trip. So we did get back three months later. Then again we had a great time in the Hostel. Pedro took good care of us by insisting that we would eat a lot to gain back our lost kilos, especially at McDonalds (a 15' walk). We enjoyed the convesations in Spanglish with Cristian and the evening at a dance-show with Pedro. This is a very good, safe place to start or end (or both) your journey. It's just like living in a house with friends. We really recommend this place to everyone.
