Las Anclas is an absolutely beautiful accomodation. The rooms are spacious and comfortably air conditioned as well as beautifully decorated. I felt right at home the moment I walked in. It's definately the hidden gem of Cozumel. The patio and gardens outside were a lovely place to just sit and relax or have breakfast or coffee. And the owners are the nicest people in the world and very accommodating. This was our first time to Mexico and they let us in on the best places to eat and shop. It's the perfect place for divers as well. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience with the dive shop that was right next door, not even 10 steps out of the gate. It's definately the place to go for anyone who wants to get the authentic Mexican experience. Its only 2 blocks from the water ( a 5-10 minute walk depending on how much you want to take in the scenery, or stop into any of the wonderful restraunts near by) and I felt very safe. I would recommend it to anyone staying in Cozumel. Not to mention the price was very affordable.

We just returned from our 8th trip to VLA and can't,as usual, wait to go back. The units are the best, spacious, but compact and totally functional. It is diver friendly while also catering to non-diving family members. Owners Pedro and Eyal are the most gracious hosts we have yet to run into. Nothing is to trivial to command their full attention for the comfort of their guests. We consider VLA our home away from home. Pedro and Eyal have become family we actually hate to leave every year....Centrally located, great dining at any price range within walking distance, a great house and yard keeping staff, you won't find much better. Over the years we have made friends with other guests and we all try to be there at the same time.......Won't tell you when so they will have rooms for us!!!!!!!! Doug and Della

Las Anclas is like home for us - It is just off the plaza and close to anything downtown that we could wish for. We return every year for the past 6 years. The suites are comfortable and convenient and the owners hospitality makes us feel like family.

I just had a wonderful week stay at the VLA. As a senior citizen with vision problems, I was concerned about navigating the open spiral staircase but found it to be no problem at all. The rooms were so clean and nicely furnished and our host Eyal was absolutely the best. Anything he could do to make our stay more enjoyable, he did it gladly..I just cannot wait to go back. I am not a diver but my kids and grandson are. While they were diving, I spent time in the beautiful courtyard or went walking around as you are located in town so close to everything. I loved every minute of it and recommend it highly to everyone whatever their age.

I chose Villas Las Anclas for a dive vacation after reading all the glowing reviews and I'm happy to say that the hotel lived up to it's praise in every way. Villas Las Anclas is the perfect spot for Cozumel visitors whether they're there for sports, shopping, sightseeing or just looking for a secluded, romantic getaway. It's perfectly located close to everything in central San Miguel yet the location is quiet, serene, private and, most of all, a very comfortable place to spend your time in Cozumel. For tourists it offers convenient access to most of the tourist activities on the island and is only a couple of blocks from the downtown plaza and many of the city's best restaurants and shopping. Divers will be within a short walking distance to many of the Cozumel's dive operators and boat piers, and an equipment drying rack and fresh water rinse is avalable for your gear. Couples will find the small, secluded location, lush courtyard, loft bedroom and stained glass windows provide the perfect atmosphere for a romantic week in paradise. The suites are spacious, far more than the average hotel room, immaculately clean, well appointed and the A/C is quiet (no noisy window units) and remote controllable. Fresh, white robes in the spacious closets added a sophisticated touch that made me feel right at home. Each suite has a large window in the living room that looks out into your own private, well-maintained garden that is lit at night. One thing that I really appreciated was the quiet - never a sound from the street and the thick masonry walls prevented any noise from the adjacent suites from coming in as well. The atmosphere in the Villas is very friendly and you can meet the other guests who often mingle in the courtyard for breakfast coffee or in the afternoon and evening after a great day on the island. Finally, the hosts, Pedro and Eyal, couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and eager to ensure that I had a great stay. 5 stars to them, too! I'm planning another dive trip back to Cozumel later this year (Dec) and there's no reason for me to look elsewhere for accomodations. I brought some of my dive companions who were staying elsewhere over to take a look and they agreed....This is the place!

We've stayed at the Villas las Anclas three times now, and would not think of staying anywhere else. We enjoy the fact that the owners, Pedro and Eyal, are on-site to provide advice and handle any questions. We also like that we can stay at VLA and dive with Blue Angel diving at their other hotel, enjoying a free ride to the dive shop each a.m. VLA has a safe, convenient location for shopping, dining, or enjoying the plaza, which is about a 3 minute walk. We usually load up on juice, yogurt, papaya, etc. at the grocery store, and have a light breakfast before diving, using the small kitchenette in the room. The A/C works fine, and there is plenty of hot water along with the daily housekeeping service. And we liked having the free wi-fi access. So if you don't need a beach in front of your hotel, you should stay at the Villas las Anclas! Doug and Sara Durango, Colorado

Every year, by the middle of January, my husband and I are sick of winter. Cold. Dark. Dreay. That's when we start thinking about returning to Cozumel, Villa Las Anclas, and the gracious Pedro and Eyal. Las Anclas is on a quiet street, in San Miguel, just two blocks from the square. Restaruant, shopping, diving, and people watching are all within walking distance. The suites occupy two floors. All of suites are decorated with cultural artwork and stained glass windows that glow in the sunlight. The bedroom and bathroom are on the second floor. The glowing glass lamps at the head of the bed add a romantic glow to the room. The two closets are spacious enough to hold all of the your luggage and clothing. The showers are hot, and well-supplied with body care supplies. The floor to ceiling window looks out over the courtyard's elegant and vibrant garden. The living and kitchenette/dining area are on the ground floor. The generously sized couch is great for relaxing, chatting, or can be made up as a bed. The picture window in each living area has a view of a narrow, lush garden, complete with a unique sculpture. The rooms are always clean and fresh. You can control the temperature of the air conditioner, which is quiet and efficient. One of my favorite things about Las Anclas is the courtyard and garden. Every year has a new surprise, but always a relaxing blend of flowers, foliage, lights and a fountain. We like to have a morning cup of coffee or an after dive cerveza there. We often see and chat with other guests who have the same idea! But the best thing about Las Anclas are the owners/hosts, Pedro and Eyal. They know the restaurants--whether you want a filling after-dive lunch, casual chic, party and people-watching, or drop-dead elegance. They can tell you where to shop for artistic and unique items beyond the the main drag. They know the dive shops, and will steer you in the right direction. They know the movies that are playing, or where to rent one. And if you want to just hang out, they make a deadly Skip-Bo team. Every winter by the middle of January, my husband and I are sick of winter. But the thought of returning to Las Anclas, always brings a smile and a laugh.

We chose Villa Las Anclas because of the great reviews for the place and Pedro and everything that people wrote was totally accurate. Pedro is one of the nicest people we've ever met and made us feel like family from the moment we arrived and was so attentive to our requests just an absolute pleasure to be around. The rooms themselves were very beautiful, clean and what a great location. Each room was uniquely decorated with it's own artwork and a stained glass window. What you see in the picture is exactly what it looks like to. Nice little family room, full kitchen, a spiral stairs going up to the bed room and a bathroom with shower (and great water pressure for those that like that), satellite TV, a full gallon of bottled water filled when you need it at no charge and one room we had even had a DVD player...oh and AC worked perfectly which in July was a blessing. We parked next to the hotel and walked around San Migeul when we wanted to shop or eat and drove when we wanted to snorkel or go to other parts of the island. Even the ferry to Playa Del Carmen was within walking distance. And being Mexico your sometimes skeptical of the things you hear in the news like the violence and swine flu, put those fears to rest, Cozumel is probably the safest place I have ever been for a vacation. The people were so welcoming and friendly. As for dining, you have 2 options when going to Cozumel...going all inclusive at a hotel or wandering about San Miguel. Pedro and another local couple we met at Le Chef recommended some places to eat and everyone was absolutely fantastic. Sabores across the street was small, quaint and only open from 12-4 but the food was amazing. The Carne Asada was the most flavorful steak I've ever eaten. Le Chef down the street had incredible tortilla soup, El Museo is a great breakfast location, the fruit was so fresh and flavorful and you have to try the tropical omlet. Pancho's backyard was so good we ate there twice. Best guacamole I've ever had and the rest of the food was great. We went to Chichen Itza for several days and by the time we came home it felt like Cozume and Villas Las Anclas was "home". If Villas las Anclas was rated on a scale of 1-10 it would be a 10, if it was 0-100, it would be 100. We enjoyed our trip so much that we can't wait to come back and would not even consider staying at another place. Thank you Pedro for help making our honeymoon a dream vacation!

I've been staying at Villas Las Anclas every year since 1992 and the stay there is definitely one of the highlights of my year. I just happened to walk by it in '92 and asked for a look around . I was stunned by the spaciousness and style of the suites. The design is well done and contributes to a feeling of relaxation and comfort. Since Pedro and Eyal bought the hotel the features have been greatly enhanced and each year finds something new to make the stay even more memorable. But the biggest enhancement has been the owners themselves. They have become real friends and make myself and the various friends that make the annual trip feel like we are a part of the total experience. The experience is so good that I plan to visit twice this summer.

Villa Las Anclas is a hidden gem minutes from down town Cozumel, close to shops, restaurants. It has cozy and unique rooms with a Mexican flair. We loved that there was an separate upstairs sleeping area, and another down stairs. There is a kitchen and lush patio/garden outside. The hosts Pedro and Eyal are fantastic and a wealth of local knowledge and suggestions for your stay. We stay here every time we go to Cozumel and arrange diving directly through the hotel and discounted rates. Expect a warm welcome!
