Hostellerie de France, Blantyre

I like to try different hotels & B&B's every time I travel to Malawi. Been to the "posh" Hotels in the area but none compare to the "homely" feel of Hostellerie-de-France. There's nothing worse than going to another country and having disgusting food - Jean Michel's wife does the cooking herself - the food is excellent, portions are more than average, and her Veggie dishes are to die for! Rooms are very basic, but if you just need a place to bunk, this place is great! It gets a 2-Star for accomodation, but 7-star for the food and hospitality!

a 2 minutes du centre ville,le paradis...la vue panoramique,le silence,grande piscine au sel,la nouriture et ..le patron...humour humour,bon pour le moral...fantastique...

The place being a bit out of Blantyre centre is absolutely a place to stay - you may stay for weeks and you still hate it the day you must leave. It is the most friendly place you can imgagine. It has all the amenities you may want including the owners (They are unique!) the 1 .

This is a wonderful establishment, which I thoroughly recommend to any visitor to Blantyre. We have recently arrive, after 8 years in Zimbabwe, and were welcome with open arms by the proprietor, Michel, and his wife. They have been enormously helpful in getting us organised. I do not think that there is any comparable guest house in Blantyre: it is the only place that is both excellent and reasonably priced. The ambience is great, the rooms are fine, and the food is delicious French cuisine. We plan to stay in Malawi for many years. We will return here frequently: both ourselves (for the food) and our many visitors, to whom w will recommend this as the only place to stay....

I travel often in Malawi and I appreciate the calm and peace that is surrounding the Hostellerie de France in Blantyre. Jean Michel and Bui are attentive to all needs of their customers. The ambiance and the comfort of the rooms, the typical French restaurant, the magnificient view of Balntyre from the parc and the swiming pool, every detail is there to make you feeling confortable and to relax after a day trip to the nearby Mulange Mountain. Jean Michel cultivate his broken English and add his personal touch of originality and humour to the traditional French hospitality. A place to go, a place to stay, a place to enjoy
