one of my favorite hotels
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/23/08
This hotel was recomended by a some friends of mine. I had a wonderful experince there. Martine took wonderful care of my friend and I. The location was wonderful being 5 mins from the beach. Even though it was during the high tourest season and during the world cup finals I was able to sleep very well and I woke up refreshed. I would recomend this hotel to anyone looking for a great value for the prize.

Petit Trianon Hotel is great value in Nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/29/06
I live on the Riviera and regularly send friends and relatives to stay at the Petit Trianon in Nice. Everyone has been very satisfied as its one of the best value for money hotels in the region, not to mention one of its cleanest properties. Martine, the owner, is conscientious and charming and will help you find your way in Nice, while letting you use her internet access and kitchen. Contrary to most hotels in this category, guests may take as many showers as they like for free and Martine provides beach towels and mats--an unheard of perk!! Incidentally, no one who has stayed at this hotel, including my own mother, has ever complained about the noise, despite its city-centre location. The belle epoque building has sturdy, sound-proof walls--ideal for those who want a good nights sleep. Without the slightest hesitation, I highly recommend the Petit Trianon Hotel!!

best place ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/07
i stayed here for almost a week in November 2007. Martine, the owner, is the most lovely host and she truly cares about everyone that stays there. because of the train strike, i stayed an extra few days and she was very quick to make sure i could continue to stay at the hotel. martine is also extremely knowledgable and helpful and makes every single stay wonderful if you just ask her for some help. the place itself is charming, and the location cannot be beat!! i would recommend this place to anyone. the rooms might be a bit small, but they are like that in most of europe so its nothing surprising!! besides, in Nice, you should barely see your room!!

Not recommended
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/11/06
Let me start out by saying that yes, Martine, the owner (and the staff all by herself), is very helpful; you can use her kitchen, her fridge, the internet etc. And yes, the hotel is located in the very center of Nice, the beach is only 2 mins away. BUT, you cannot sleep due to the lively atmosphere: there is constant noise, music (a cafe is located just below the hotel, and street musicians are always entertaining the crowd) and sound of the crowd coming from the street. The windows don't seem to shut out the noise properly. Furthermore, there is a garbage truck that comes every morning(!) at around 5am, it is VERY loud! THe same goes for the noise coming from the other rooms. The walls are paper thin, and you can literally hear even the sneeze of your neighbor. I also have to mention the size of the rooms. The french like it small, but this is extremely small, even compared to other french hotels. I stayed with my girlfriend and one of us had to sit down on the bed while the other was packing; the rooms were that tiny. The bathroom was ridicoulous. The sink was placed in a corner surrounded by the shower, so even I (I am skinny) had to lift up one of my arms to be able to use the sink for purposes such as washing my teeth. We weren't able to sleep properly for the whole duration of our stay. The noise was one thing, but the bed was really uncomfortable. So overall, if you are alone, or are planning to stay just 2 days and aren't thinking about sleeping too much then I would recommend the place, but otherwise no. Especially, if you are a couple and want to enjoy your stay a little, then this place is definately NOT RECOMMENDED.

Little hotel with a big heart
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/06
Money doesn't go far on the Riviera, so get a headstart with Martine's little hotel, which I found by chance! It's an ideal base to explore the Riviera. It's located right on the main pedestrian zone, only five minutes from the beach and the bus and train stations. I did my research and there were no other hotels that offered such clean and comfortable rooms for this price. Martine is extremely helpful (she worries about her guests as if they were her own children) and I especially appreciated being able to use her kitchen and her internet access (no hunting for internet cafs!) I highly recommend the Petit Trianon--the little hotel with an owner who has a big heart!

Serendipity
By DaleC, 1/13/06
I found this place by accident a few years ago. It's located about 3 flights up in a little street called "Paradise Street". It is run by Martine, who is a very nice lady. There are about 10 rooms, mostly inhabited by backpacking students. There is a washer and dryer there, and Internet access. Both the rooms I stayed in (2004, 2005) had private shower and toilet. The location is just a short walk from the "Albert 1 Garden" and just across the highway is the beach. , The walk to and from the train station is a bit long, but you can take a bus down Jean Medicin then walk a couple of blocks west. You simply can't beat the price!
