Description

The hostel has been warmly recommended by most major guidebooks, including Lonely Planet, Le guide de Routerd and more. This well-positioned hostel is relaxed and easy-going, with a great atmosphere and friendly staff that make you feel at home. From the moment you walk into the lobby you sense the laid-back, welcoming vibe of MERAMEES hostel Little touches like fresh flowers, books, CDs and casual sofas in the lobby help make it feel like you're dropping by to see friends at home rather than checking into a hotel. The casual majlis (meeting room) off the lobby where breakfast is served makes a good place to hang out after a hot day's sightseeing. The rooms themselves have high ceilings, wooden floorboards, large windows and French doors leading onto balconies, and there are shared bathrooms and rooms with own bathrooms and toilets apart from the dorm room. Helpful stuff gives his guests plenty of advice about visiting Cairo and other parts of Egypt . The Meramees is certainly one of the more friendly options around down town.WE OFFER *FREE Pickup from Cairo International Airport, (minimum stay 2 nights or more in DBL room).*FREE Pickup from Cairo International Airport, (minimum stay 1 night or more in TPL room).*FREE Pickup from Cairo International Airport, (minimum stay 1 night or more in 4beds room).P.S AIRPORT PICK UP FOR Single and DORM BEDS BOOKING 12 US DOLLARS ..... Great deal, fun staff!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/16/11
Stayed at Meramees for several nights in June. It was my first trip to Egypt, and the staff was so helpful and fun. They arranged for excellent drivers anytime we needed one - to the airport, to the pyramids, etc. and took the time to get to know the guests. We had a gorgeous and spacious double room, which had an ensuite shower and sink, with the toilets just next door. The location is excellent, tucked up on the 5th floor of an old French building and out of the way, but close enough to Midan Talaat Harb that it's by lots of restaurants (FelFel and Abu Tareq - delicious!), and taxis know exactly where you need to go. With wireless in the rooms, and balconies, it was a great place to come home to after a long day in the crazy busy beautiful city that is Cairo.

All that you really need
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/5/08
I have stayed in Meramees Hotel on two trips now and it will not be the last. These are the reasons: It has a discreet location in the middle of the atmospheric downtown Cairo, on the fifth and sixth floor of an worn down, but still stylish building. The other floors house other buisnesses. In short: You are in the middle of real life, not an isolated tourist-fortress. It not luxurious, but the rooms are clean enough... and it makes up for much in its wonderfull down to earth, family-like atmosphere. You feel totally at home. The staff is allways friendly and helpfull. There is internet-acces and laundry-service. The Egyptian Museum and the Nile is a stonethrow away. So is the metro and plenty of taxies, so you can easily get to anywhere. What more could you really ask for???

I don't want to go there. Just kidding! They had great hospitality, room service etc. The view is great and the food is even better. I'm talkin' fried rice, baked bread, vegetables and many spicy foods. It's great for anyone's diet.

GREAT Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/30/06
We arrived very late in the evening on the first night and it was helpful to have a friendly, informed staff ready to assist us. They helped us to organize our first few days in Egypt, including tours, transport and hotels. They were also able to provide information on useful discounts and money saving tactics.

excellent location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/9/06
Friendly staff with a great laid back atmosphere. Good simple rooms that were very clean and tidy. The staff asked us if we wanted to do any organised tours in other parts of the country but when we said we wanted to do our own thing they were happy to accept this and didn't try to push anything on to us. Great location
