A great value for the price.

Carlos & Gisela were friendly, hospitable, & knowledgeable about things to see & do in Vina & surrounding areas. Our private room & bath were simple but clean & cleaned daily. There was ample storage for clothing for our 6 day/5 nite summertime stay. Security was sufficient & we felt safe. The (included) communal breakfast was a feast of healthy foods. A kitchenette with fridge, microwave, sink, & dishes is available if you go grocery shopping & don't want to eat out every meal. The water is safe to drink. The landscaping is beautiful & there's a pool & ping-pong table. Standards for accomodations are different than the U. S. but this was a comfortable place to stay. As in most places in Vina, there is no A/C, but there's a breeze. The only negative is it was a bit noisy at night with neighborhood dogs barking but we got used to it. Carlos & Gisela speak English, Spanish, & German. Although my husband & I are older (50's) we had no trouble mixing with the younger people (20's & 30's). Some attractions are within walking distance but I'd suggest the bus if you don't have a car in order to see the surrounding areas. Staying here was like staying with friends & I'd definately recommend this hostel as a great way to experience the local flavor of Chile rather than the stuffiness of an impersonal hotel. Many thanks!!
