The Villa Siem Reap, Siemrap

I cannot recommend this place enough. The service we received was excellent from the moment I sent my first email inquiry there. I was always answered within 24 hours. Although rates may be steep for very budget travellers, I feel the quality and value is well worth it if you want a nice hassle-free holiday. They offer packages as well as rooms and we chose a deluxe room and package. The location is quite near to the airport and also near to Angkor Wat, by tuk tuk. It's a pleasant ride either way, even in the middle of the day when it's hottest. The room itself was immaculately clean, I think you could eat off the floor. It was spacious and the cable TV actually had channels worth watching. You would have to go out of your room to get to the balcony and there's nowhere to hang you clothes in the bathroom while you shower but those are really tiny points. The air-conditioning was good and everything was well maintained. We had wireless internet in our room for my workaholic husband. The bed was very comfortable and clean, and we did a lot of sleeping after visiting the temples. There is a lot of attention to detail here, including speading orchids in a heart shape on our bed every day. Although they do not have a pool, they sell pool passes to a nearby pool. Massages can also be arranged. The food was incredible. Delicious and beautifully presented, and in a timely fashion with a courteous waiter, we felt that we would have eaten there for every meal regardless of whether or not we stayed in the hotel. The banana coconut shake is a must after a long day of temple walking! Additionally, this place had a brilliant idea of "temple packs" where they made fresh sandwiches (or pasta salad or salad) for us each day, packed in a cooler with drinks, that all fit perfectly on our tuk tuk. These were so great even just for the cold water and cold towels without having to haggle with the touts. We were sad to leave for the airplane home without a temple pack! They also do a "sunset" pack. As part of our package, we had a driver and tuk tuk for our entire stay and he was superb. His English was good and he helped us with suggestions of places to go, and was willing to drive us anywhere at anytime. We also hired a guide for a half-day through the guesthouse, and found that our guide spoke better and clearer English than any other guides we passed through the temples. The rest of the hotel staff was also incredibly friendly and made an excellent effort to assist us and talk to us. I'm sure that a lot of work has gone into staff training here and it's easy to see the Australian couple running it have done so with great care and attention to detail. I was very pleased with everything overall and I will definately return on a future trip. A large portion of our satisfaction with our holiday was due to our choice of package and accommodation at The Villa Siem Reap.
