Surfside Bondi Beach Backpackers, Sydney

Myself and two friends stayed at Indys in Bondi for 4 nights at the beginning of our trip of a lifetime to Oz. When we checked in we couldn't find the person who was supposed to be on the front desk. When we we finally did he simply took our payment and didn't tell us where anything was or what facilities there were. The location was great and beds were comfortable although the rooms were not very clean and neither were the sheets. The bathroom/showers were dirty - we didn't see anyone clean them for the entire stay, considering this was the week between Christmas and New Year, the place was packed and the bathrooms were being used alot. Security was low, people walked in and out ans there was even a girl sleeping in the TV room and keeping her stuff in our dorm who freely admitted that she wasn't paying to stay!! On the last day when checking out we had to wake up the same person who should have been on the front desk - this seemed to be a huge problem for him! We wouldn't have bothered but we needed our safety deposits back. In a word Indys nearly put us off Sydney - I would strongly advise anyone to reconsider staying there. For the same price (or less) you could find much better, friendlier, cleaner accomodation.
