LOVED IT!
By ,
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Morales for a weekend getaway to Guadalajara. We chose it because of the good reviews, beautiful pictures, and great price. The hotel exceeded all of our expectations. The Morales is centrally located downtown. It is beautiful inside and very romantic. It has an old world colonial feeling with all of the modern amenities. There are gorgeous sitting areas throughout the hotel-perfect for having a drink after a day exploring the city. The staff was always helpful and attentive. We arrived early and they put us in our room right away with no problem. It was extremely clean and the bed very comfortable. We were on the ground floor facing an inside courtyard but didn't experience any noise issues that are mentioned in other reviews. The staff recommened great restaurants in walking distance and an all-day tequila tour that was the highlight of our trip. We will definitely come back to the Hotel Morales!

Very sad experience
By ,
When I made the reservation I received several emails from different people welcoming our family. I made the reservation and specificly told Ms. Nila my flight would be there arte 10pm she indicated no problem. When we got to the Hotel I was told that our reservation was not good anymore because the room was rented out, but they would take me to another of their Hotels in a different location by this time it was 11pm. I refused to be sent to another Hotel because they did not keep my reservation I told the receptionist to call me a taxi and to call Holiday Inn for me. A couple of minutes later they happend to have a room for us. I do not recommend Hotel they lack in customer service. We checked out the following day and as we were living some other family was having the same problem but they end up leaving. Very sad to say but I will never stay there again. The Hotel is beautiful but their personal is not good.

Best hotel in GDL
By ,
This hotel was just 5 blocks from downtown GDL. It is beautiful, clean and the service was excellent. The food in the hotel was also amazing. The staff did everything they could to help us out with anything that we needed. The rooms were also good. The only downside is that the hotel can get a little noisy due to it being in a courtyard style. But other than that, it is definitely worth it, just bring your ear plugs!

THE Place to Stay in Guadalajara
By ,
The hotel is beautiful, in the old colonial style but with all the modern amenities, including internet access in the lobby, and, if you are lucky, in the room. Some of the courtyard rooms have windows on the interior courtyard, but once we got the airconditioning working properly, that was not a problem. The staff from front desk to garage attendant will go out of their way to help you if you need it and have excellent recommendations on restaurants, driving directions and sightseeing. The dining room provided a great light meal on our first night in Guadalajara -- just the thing after a long day of travelling. The terrace on the fourth floor is a lovely private spot if you need to get away from it all for awhile. One day we even took the lunch we ordered in the dining room up to the terrace to eat. The hotel is central to all the sights in Guadalajara and within walking distance of most of them. La Chata and La Gorda up the street are great spots for breakfast and some fabulous restaurants are only an inexpensive taxi ride away. One warning -- they are digging up the Avenue Corona to replace water pipes and the resulting traffic jam around the hotel is pretty horrendous.

would stay again
By ,
first off, this hotel is gorgeous. very well maintained over time. the staff is very courteous and spoke very good English, since my Spanish is less than perfect :) its very close to all squares, churches, museum and market. taxis are always available for trips further away. also there is a tour that will take you to Tlaquepaque and you can stay in this lovely town until 7pm when the last bus comes back to Guadalajara. the downside: the elevator was broken for 3 days and its a long way up to the top floor.. the air conditioner in my room was also broken. when i complained to the front desk they gave me a large, quiet fan for my room. it was sufficient. wireless internet is not very good on the top floor either and no wall plugs for wired internet. however: the power plugs were set up for US 3 prong equipment so no need to buy an adapter. the restaurant is very well priced for the quality of food they prepare. all in all, this was a very good stay. the price was very good from Yahoo travel. the price at the the hotel for the same room was $179. i checked another site for a price check and Yahoo was the cheapest. i would not recommend for families due to the number of expensive items around the hotel and some rooms have balconies. my room had 2 balconies. the balconies overlook busy streets.

Awesome place to stay !
By ,
I would without a doubt recommend this hotel to anyone. The room where we stayed was on the third floor facing a busy street. I slept right through all the noise because I wore earplugs at night (I would highly recommend this). We had planned to stay only 2 nights, but we asked if they could put us up for an extra night and they were able to do it, but we had to change rooms which was no biggie. I wish we would have had the second room when we checked in. This room faced the taco shop across the street and you also had a view of the church and the plaza in front of the church. Yes, the beds were a little harder than what I was use to, but I was still able to sleep well. A restaurant I would recommend is down from the hotel going towards the cathedral. The name of the restaurant is La Chata. Another spot I would recommend is La Maestranza. This bar was featured in the show Three Sheets. It's a bar decorated with all sorts of bull fighter's outfits and also pictures of various matadors and the actual bulls killed in the ring. Very, very cool place. If you go there make sure to order a Molcahete. A molcahete is what is used to grind certain spices and or food. Very similar to a mortar and pestle. The molcahete served at La Maestranza consists of meat, cheese, onions, etc. They cook it in the oven(?) and it's brought to your table bubbly and hot. My sister ordered this and it was still bubbling even after she was finished with it. It's a huge portion so I would recommend sharing. Getting back to the hotel, it pretty much looks like most of the pictures online. Don't hesitate to stay at this place. For what you pay and what you get, it's a bargain. Also the breakfast wasn't too bad, but explore and eat at different restaurants. If you don't speak Spanish you won't have a problem here because everyone speaks English and I also thought I heard a hotel employee speaking French. Have fun !@!

Great location and hotel, but ...
By ,
Very cool history and in the heart of everything, but beware the nightclub on the street to the right as you face the hotel. Unless you like hearing thumping bass all night long (well most of the night anyway) don't let them give you a room on that side of the hotel ... unless you plan to be at that bar instead of sleeping.

A most traditional historic hotel and location
By ,
I have traveled in and out of Mexico for the past thirty years. I started our as a tourist in resort communities as my children grew and later found myself emerged in the culture. If you want real mexico in Guadalajara, you must stay in the central heart of the city. My recent wife of 2 1/2 years had never been to Mexico and I had a business Expo to attend and invited her to come along. I chose Hotel Morals and we have no regrets in any area. They were the most professional hostess one could hope for in a foreign country. Keep in mind, all the brand named hotels are also represented in the city central, so don't expect high-rise beauty. Expect the outsides to all appear similar and in odd locations but the insides are beautiful, especially Hotel Morales. There are drivers to take you anywhere you desire (at the hotel) if you choose not to use the taxi's. However the taxis are wonderful and honest. We hope you give this Hotel a try and experience its historic beauty.
