Clean and comfortable
By Barbara, 10/10/11
We were very satisfird with the services provided and most of all, the location. Trully, is a good choice of a hotel in a top rated area of Plaka that has nice, quiet, and clean rooms in reasonable price. Definetly coming back. Sehr Gut

cheating!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/09
We (couple with 2-year-old boy) stayed 4 nights at Athos Hotel (Athens, Plaka) in May 2009. The hotel is well situated and the room was clean, the receptionists were really friendly. Even though, we would not go back, because we had a serious dispute with the hotel owner. We booked our double room with a baby cot through e-mail; the rate was 75 EUR incl. cot and taxes per room. When I arrived at the hotel after a long journey, I was as inattentive as to sign a paper which stated that the rate was 75 EUR plus 13% taxes. Later we went to the hotel owner and showed her the printout of her e-mail confirming the rate of 75 EUR. She said that since I signed the paper at arrival, her email is not valid any more. We tried to explain how immoral her approach is. She said that we got linens for the baby cot for free (as if it was not natural!!) and a big room (it was not at all big). She added that if I had said at the arrival that I want a cheaper room, she would have given us a smaller one, but that would have been really tiny for the 3 of us. We told her that she should not have confirmed a room for 3 persons if she is not willing to accept the agreed rate for the particular room. Later, we heard that ours was not the first case like this. At the end, after we had told her we would call the police, she accepted that we pay 75 EUR (plus 6 EUR/breakfast), but we really had a bad feeling in that hotel.

Traveller Beware
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/07
For our 2+week Greece holiday, all accommodations were booked via the Internet based on information provided on hotel websites and recommendations on this site and Fodor’s (which did not feature this hotel). On 4/17/07, we confirmed our reservation for a Superior room at the Athos Hotel for a four night stay in late September and early October, 2007 with Nina Gotsis, the hotel manager. The Athos’ website and confirmation e-mails stated the following: “The advantages of the Superior rooms are the greater comfort and the private balconies with the enchanting view of the Acropolis.” Upon check-in, we were disappointed to find that our Superior room had an Acropolis view, but only after going to the far corner of our balcony and looking around the corner. When I brought this issue to Nina’s attention, she said that no other rooms with an Acropolis view were available, but we were free to use the Roof Garden. During the last two nights of our stay, the door to access the Roof Garden was locked at 8 PM because the adjacent room was rented. I requested an adjustment to our room rate from Nina based on two unfulfilled promises, which she refused to consider. The positive aspects of the Athos are the support staff (Mary and Nicolas) and its location convenient to the Acropolis, the Plaka, and Syntagma Square. If you stay at the Athos, the White Horse taverna, owned by Marco, is great for coffee and breakfast/dinner.

Wonderful people, great service and clean hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/07
Located in Athens in the Plaka area. Lots to see and do and great food. You can walk pretty much everywhere from the Athos and the rooms were clean, service excellent. But the most memorable part of our stay was the owner Nina, and her son Nikos. Incredible people. They treated us as if we were part of their family. They assisted with everything, gave excellent recommendations and were always ready to put on a pot of coffee when we'd return to the hotel. I could go on and on about them, but sufice it to say, they made our Greek vacation 1000 times better. We would love to go back and stay with them again someday! PS: We were there in January...we should have taken Nina's advice not to go to Crete at that time of year! Crete is beautiful, but the weather made the trip over and back pretty stressful! Go to Crete at a different time of year! :)

Great little hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/26/06
Loved the location-could walk everywhere. All of the hotel staff at the front desk were wonderful - especially Nina. They were all so helpful and had great suggestions for good restaurants and night life. The rooftop was great. We would take our wine up there at night and had a great view of the Acropolis. The only negative was that some of the rooms are extremely small. The next time I stay there, I'll request the larger room.
