Comfort Suites Lakeside, Houghton Lake

My wife and I have a horrible experience at the property. There was hair in the bath tub. There was human material on the blanket on the bed. There were two wasps in the room that had to be destroyed. I would no recommend this place to anyone. The management made promises that were never kept.

This hotel stay was by far one of the worst for us. We had booked the room for 3 nights and left after 2. Our room had not been cleaned yet when we left at 7:30 p.m. The desk staff was rude. The manager was unaccessible. "She's not here" "I can't reach her" "Try to call tomorrow" We had paid extra for a room with a jacuzzi - the jets barely worked. Very stingy with towels in the room and pool area. The pool area was in need of work and was dirty. I would never recommend this hotel to anybody.

The hotel is really rundown and not worth the price. The wallpaper in our bath was held together with scotch tape and it smelled of mold/mildew. The pool/waterslide was filled with a bus load of kids from a local day camp that were not staying at the hotel when we arrived, so our children couldn't effectively use the facility. The front desk staff was unappologetic about this and seemed like they could care less about retaining our business or anybody elses. Any question I had was met with heavy sigh's or complete annoyance. The breakfast was terrible and the hotel seemed to be filled with people who were clearly related to the people running the place and living on site....it was all very weird...Save your money and stay at a different hotel with real customer service....

The water park was fun, but it needs some TLC. The room was not clean and the we had to make our own bed ( the hide a bed). The front desk men who work during the day were very rude and not helpful at all. The woman who worked the evening shift at the front desk was bery helpful.

This was my second time staying at this hotel and your customer service is horrible! Not only at the front desk but with your managers to! We were up there to visit my father for a weekend and didnt no were to stay so we thought we would try you guys again..To start with we ordered a jucuzzi room,when we got in it it was way to small for us we had a 2yr old with us..so then we ask for a king room...the only one we have is on the first floor the manager said...seriously? What ever thats fine! i need room for my kid to play.So then we get into it the room was 104.. the tub wasnt cleaned it ws so dirty i couldnt give my kid a bathso i waited the next day thinking house cleaning would clean it! Nope! Then when we got to the hotel I asked for a crib..fine i'll bring one to the room! Three hours later and after asking 3more times I finally get a crib now that its way to late to give my daughter a nap because she's about to go to bed...Then are room was on the first floor next to the breakfist area so at 4am we all including the baby wake up to them setting up breakfist then at night we cant sllep because theres still people playing air hockey!!! Seriously! On top of that I asked for the stay 2 nights get the next free thing..the managersays oh, you have to do it online!!!Right there she pissed me off for a manager to say that...Then for her nowing we have a kid and put us in that room what was she thinking? So why should i ever stay there again? Tracy Hohendorf

Beautiful views and we have stayed here quite a few times. Stayed a couple of weeks ago and as soon as we walked in the door we noticed the room hadnt been vacumed. The balconies were really disgusting and as soon as i opened the door I stuck my head in cobwebs. It has been a nice getaway for my husband and i but we wont go back. The room was to dirty for as much as we paid.

we have never stayed at a hotel as nice as this before. we were celebrating our one year anniversary and went with the romantic package. the service was verry nice all the employees were extremely helpful with anything we needed. our room came with champagne and chocalate covered strawberries which were incredible. but neither of us like champagne and the employees were very happy to switch it with another drink we preffered. i would definatly go back on another vacation.

Never stayed there when it was Holiday Inn. Judging from the other reviews I'm glad I didn't. But I stayed here for Tip Up Town(both weekends), as well as, right before Christmas. I was treated VERY well. The T-Bone steak is to die for! The pizza was pretty good too. Suites w/sliding glass doors, 20 feet from the beach too, so I'll be back FOR SURE THIS SUMMER!!! Looks like a fairy tale venue for wedding receptions as well...

Nice rooms, great day room, awesome bar, cool water slide, and helpful staff. Overall I was very happy. Can't wait to see the place in the summer!!! Indoor bar looks to double as an open air bar for the summer.
