THE WORST EVER!!
By Claudia, 9/23/11
I made a reservation at this place and when I arrived, there was no one there. It looked horrible. Finally a young lady who spoke barely any English told me that the 'owners were in Cleveland'. She couldn't find my reservation or give me a room, so I left. They CHARGED me! I am having trouble getting the charge reversed, as I can't seem to talk to anybody there who #1: speaks English #2: has any ability to do anything. STAY AWAY!!! But from reading the reviews, I think I was lucky I didn't stay there.

IT'S THAT BAD!! WHAT CROOKS!!!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/11
I made this reservation over the phone from our car while we were in the area...all other places were booked. When I arrived, front desk area was dirty. When I was handed the room keys, they were presented to me in a very dirty, used key card envelope....YUCK!!!!!!! The best was yet to come! When we opened the room door, and tried to turn the light on, instead of a regular light switch, we found a toggle switch .... which did not work. It was still daylight, so we left door open and after searching, found that the lights had to be turned on via a surge protector strip that was on a stand. It would have been better off if we couldn't have seen what the room was like! It was dirty, smelly, and just plain gross. My one son needed to use restroom, and had to forcefully push door open (it was sticking from all the filth I assume). The toilet had a huge wad of toilet paper still in it, and when I tried to flush the toilet, it did not work. I also noticed that the bathroom had no soap or shampoo. We immediately went back to front desk and told them that, under no terms, were we going to stay in their hotel. (The kids were crying to go home!) The front desk couldn't get in touch with manager, but told me that the room was just drafted to my credit card, not actually charged. She said that the manager would take care of that the next day. We left .... I would rather have slept on the pavement outside those rooms! The next day however, they said that even though we hadn't stayed, we would be charged for the stay .... almost $150! When I called to make that reservation, we were less than a minute from the Inn, and by the time we left, the entire episode had lasted around 10-15 minutes.... from start to finish. Thankfully, I have my credit card company on my side .... this Inn is very underhanded and unscrupulous. I have since called the Better Business Bureau, the Fire Enforcement Dept. for code violations, the Erie Chamber of Commerce, and the PA Dept of Health. This establishment is as toxic as the mold growing in their rooms. For whatever reason, even though they have been REPEATEDLY INVESTIGATED AND FINED, they somehow have managed to remain in business. PLEASE PEOPLE .... PLEASE pay attention to these reviews! The lesson I have taken from this: READ REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING, and if you aren't able to do that, ask to see a room before making reservations. If they won't happily oblige by letting you see a room first, then it is probably an establishment that you need to pass by! Also, if you have a legitimately bad experience at a hotel, scream it from the rooftops! Call the authorities and make these hotels owe up to cleaning up their act. This is certainly, without a doubt, one place to avoid. Read all the reviews before me and please, take heed!

Can we give it minus stars.
By DANIEL, 6/29/09
The hotel sign advertised 49 dollar clean rooms. We are a Girl Scout Troop who saved for this trip. We paid 200 dollar for two rooms. The rooms had fleas in the morning when we woke up. The ice bucket had mold. The door in our room was hard to close and open, if their was a fire we would have had trouble getting out. We would have went somewhere else but we would have lost our deposit, and as a troop we could not afford that. The health department will hear from us. Do Not Stay Here!!!!

Flea Bag Motel (really)
We were a group of Girl Scouts going on a trip to Waldameer Park on a limited budget. I wish I had checked Yahoo Travel reviews first. This place was filthy, it stunk, the blankets were dirty with cigarette burn holes in them, there was mold on the ice bucket, and YES there were fleas that came out while we slept at night and the bathroom was filled with them in the morning. When we complained we were basically told too bad. When we asked for the owners name the manager who said her name was Mary told us she was not allowed to give it to us. We will be reporting the Bay Front Inn to the Erie Better Business Bureau and the Health Department. We were charged $98 for a weekend night, I wouldn't stay there again if it were free. This place is unhealthy !!

good if you want your kids to see prostitutes
By TraceyM, 6/23/09
While going to Shriner's Hospitol with my daughter I tried to save a few bucks. We rented the room, small, slightly dirty but I was tired. All through the night two doors up was a working girl who was really enthusiastic. In the morning there were a pile of towels outside her room and the door was open all night; everyone heard the noises. I would rather sleep under a bridge.

I'd never stay there again
By Duane K, 2/21/09
When I arrived the lobby looked a bit dirty but it was late and snowing. The sign out front stated $39 1per. So without asking I gave the young woman my credit card. When I got the receipt back I was charged $45 for the room. A person that looked like the owner/manager/father of the young woman showed up. I stated that I was only one person and they charged me more then what the sign said. I was told all the one person rooms where gone after they made a show of looking at the computer. I went out to eat and when I returned there were 3 cars in the parking lot. Since it snowed it was easy to tell how many cars where in the lot in the morning. The sign also said HSI. I assumed this meant high speed internet. I inquired and was told, oh yes all the rooms have wireless internet. I could get a signal in the room. It had enough strenght for me to make a 1mb/sec connection. I had nothing but problems trying to get mail and do other things I had to do that night. There were only 3 cars. So I went for the advertised breakfast. It was non existent. The guy made some coffee while I got my stuff out of the car. The cream was bad. So I asked where the single person rooms where. He indicated they were on the back of the hotel. There aren't any rooms on the back of the hotel. So he lied to me more then once. He said that every room has a rate. Yet that hotel has all the same kind of room. So I was ripped off. I told him that I'd be filing complaints everywhere I could and that the $7 he ripped me off would be the most expensive $7 he ever made. Needless to say next time I visit Erie, PA I will not be staying at the Bay Front Inn and I suggest you also avoid it or you will be sorry.

Everyone is telling the truth!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/7/08
I read the reviews and thought this place couldn't be as bad as everyone was saying but they were right. When we first arrived we had to ring a bell and it took 5 minutes before anyone would come to the desk and they also messed up our reservations. We walked into the rooms and they smelled funky and the beds looked half made. The whole place just seemed dirty. I will not go back to this place and if you want to enjoy your vacation, this is not the place for you either.

Beware !!! Dont be fooled by advertising brousures
By Melissa D, 9/10/07
Online it advertised for $50. I called and made reservations for a couples room, gave them my credit card and everything. When we arrived the sign out front said $59 and up. They took my credit card again. I told them I already gave the numbers over the phone. If I was charged twice, they have a lawsuit including false advertisement. I didn't think it would ever be over $85. There wasnt anywhere else vacant so we had to take the room. When we got in the room there were two full beds and it smelled bad. we turned on the ac thinking it would be better but it wasn't. I tried to turn on the light on the desk but it was broke, the bulb was leaning on the shade. Light beside bed didn't work so the only lights were by the tv and bathroom. My husband went back to the desk and asked them why it cost so much. The man at the desk said it was the weekend rate. My husband asked why there were two beds. The man told him that there aren't any smoker rooms with a king bed. I DIDN'T ASK FOR A SMOKER ROOM. After waking up in seperate beds, we got a shower (good thing I brought shampoo) we checked out. We will never go back there. We can stay at a better place for the same price.
