New, Clean; Great place for the price
By ,
Clean. That's the first thing you look for in a hotel. Friendly, Courteous Staff. Responsive Staff -- we needed more pillows and the staff promplty fulfilled our request. Spacious rooms, good breakfast. We stayed one night and found it a perfect stopover - had 6 (3 teens, 2 adults, 1 kid) in the room -- 2 queens & a sofa pullout. Two ice machines per floor. 3 floors. Would definitely stay there again if in Moab If you're staying in Moab with small kids, there's a hotel downtown that has an indoor slide -- I think the Apache? Dining is in town, so plan on driving about 2 miles for dinner -- too hot to walk if in summer. Recommend Zax for sit-down pizza. There's other hotels in town that are closer, but not cleaner. The Best Western is in the heart of the downtown area so you can walk anywhere for dinner. The only nuisance at this hotel was watching the cleaning staff arrive when we were checking out. They all wear the same uniform and the women don't hem there pants -- two different workers with baggy black pants below the soles of ther shoes. Three men arrived ready for work, but the women looked like they had no interest in the opportunty provided to them. They must start at 9 am, because at 8:59, one was smoking the life out of her cigarrete outside like it was her last cigarette before prison. Going back to the hotel...I would stay here again. It is clean, and feels new.

Dirty? and expensive
By ,
For the $134 a night, we felt it was not up to that price. The room was nothing special and we felt it could have been cleaner

Very POOR service and staff at a great location
By ,
The location of this rather new hotel is great. The town of Moab is wonderful. That is where this review will end using any sense of positive. The staff at this hotel, led by General Manager Pam is at an industry low. They are anything but accommodating. here is my recent 3 day experience.... My party of 6 people arrived one day early for our reservation of two suites with 2 queen beds and sofa bed. We were greeted very nicely by "Shawn" and he helped us check in to 3 rooms as those were the last rooms available for the day. He left a message for the manager that we needed to get into our RESERVED rooms the next day. We rose to go out and photograph sunrise in the beautiful landscape of the Moab are at 6 AM. The problems began as we returned to the hotel at 11:30 AM. We spoke to Richard, the rather incompetent man on the desk at daytime. I inquired about switching our 3 rooms to the 2 rooms that I reserved. He told me that they, your Holiday Inn Express staff, had decided to keep us in the rooms that we were in. I explained that we had other layout rooms reserved. He responded "uh oh, this is a problem. I do not deal with problems well, someone get Pam" I asked to speak to the manager to clear this up as "Shawn" had left a note for the morning crew to make sure the transfer happened effortlessly. That was clearly not going to be the way as we met "Pam," the manager with a HUGE attitude. Without any kind of greeting or introduction, she stepped in to the computer and began looking, finally suggesting that we were staying in the rooms that we were in since we checked in before our reserved date. I told her that was unacceptable as we were simply walk in's the night prior and wanted the rooms that we reserved. Nothing was given to us but poor attitude. She then thought a moment and said, "Well, you never checked out of those rooms and it is after check out time! You have to stay in them, we have no other rooms!" I explained that it was now 11:45 AM and being that we were staying two more nights, we were just looking to switch to our reserved layout rooms. Why would our walk in rooms effect our reservations? After more attitude she created the two rooms for us, being 217 and 219. There was no apology, no thank you, nothing but handed us the keys. Everytime we came near the counter or came into the lobby she either walked into her office and closed door or went to move herself out of sight. She made sure not to say another word to us during our stay. I would have expected some apology or greeting to see if everything was satisfactory. Pam's attitude was quite unprofessional and truthfully appalling. This is not by any means acceptable behavior in the hospitality industry. While standing in the lobby each evening, people would pull in looking to see about vacancies. The hotel is not even considerate enough to place a NO VACANCY sign out to be considerate to those traveling. I think that this is further proof to the lack of caring of this property. There are many hotels in the neighborhood and the general experiences in the town are fabulous from restaurants, (try the Moab Diner and Sunset Grill, both wonderful food and even better service) to the unique shops. This Property should be avoided at all costs. Ken Sklute

Great Place to Stay
By ,
After traveling for 3 weeks, the Holiday Inn Express in Moab was one of the best places we stayed. The room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Washing machines, pool and breakfast were available. We would stay here again. The Inn is a very short drive to town.

A welcome stay
By ,
Clean, airy; friendly staff; very good rooms, good breakfast. We stayed one night and found it a perfect stopover. Located a short drive out of town, so fairly quiet (some of the other hotels in town looked like they'd be noisy). Would definitely stay there again if in area of Moab

Quiet, clean & freindly
By ,
I found nothing wrong with this hotel. The location was perfect, outside of the busy city. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the free breakfast with all the hot dishes and no line. Every staff member we met was freindly and helpful. We would stay there again. It is a value in comparisons.

Poor reception on arrival
By ,
We arrived at 1.35 and were asked to come back about 3pm despite the fact that we have been in the Priority Club for 5 years; apparently the room wasn't ready; we returned at 4.35 to be told our room still wasn't ready due to 'shortage of staff'. The female receptionist then disappeared for a cigarette and left us in the capable hands of a nice male receptionist. We were given keys to a room but when we got there it hadn't been made up; I called the maid from over the hall and she quickly made the bed. About an hour later I discovered toe nails from the previous resident on the carpet - the carpet hadn't been cleaned. However this was soon rectified. We asked to see the Manager who wasn't there until the following day - we were then given an upgrade (we never did see the manager). We found one of the receptionsts rather surly but she did 'warm' to us later. On the positive side the beds were very, very comfortable and the young girl on duty at breakfast time worked very hard to ensure items were available. I would stay there again but I would ring about an hour before arrival to check whether our room had been serviced.

I will never stay there again!
By ,
We booked 5 rooms for 3 nights for a total of $2400.00. Upon check in, we found dirty rooms with garbage still in the trash cans. The toilets were in the same condition as a bad Gas Station. When we tried to make the front desk aware of our concerns, we were told that the hotel was very busy and could not accommodate any cleaning problems. As I met the General Manager it became evident why this hotel has received such terrible reviews. He was extremely loud and defensive and told me that my best recourse would be to take my business else ware. That was good advice, and I would recommend everyone to follow it.

Clean AND comfortable!
By ,
This hotel had very comfortable beds, and very comfortable linens as well. After a week of staying at hotels with only one flat bedpillow, it was sheer joy to have two fluffy pillows on which to sleep! The bathrooms were meticulously clean, with tile everywhere. And the prices were very reasonable for peak season. The hit of the hotel was the indoor pool. We didn't have to worry about applying sunblock every half an hour in an outdoor pool; the kids swam in it every chance they got! We'd recommend it to anyone traveling through Moab.
