Very POOR service and staff at a great location

The location of this rather new hotel is great. The town of Moab is wonderful. That is where this review will end using any sense of positive. The staff at this hotel, led by General Manager Pam is at an industry low. They are anything but accommodating. here is my recent 3 day experience....
My party of 6 people arrived one day early for our reservation of two suites with 2 queen beds and sofa bed. We were greeted very nicely by "Shawn" and he helped us check in to 3 rooms as those were the last rooms available for the day. He left a message for the manager that we needed to get into our RESERVED rooms the next day. We rose to go out and photograph sunrise in the beautiful landscape of the Moab are at 6 AM.
The problems began as we returned to the hotel at 11:30 AM.
We spoke to Richard, the rather incompetent man on the desk at daytime. I inquired about switching our 3 rooms to the 2 rooms that I reserved. He told me that they, your Holiday Inn Express staff, had decided to keep us in the rooms that we were in. I explained that we had other layout rooms reserved. He responded "uh oh, this is a problem. I do not deal with problems well, someone get Pam"
I asked to speak to the manager to clear this up as "Shawn" had left a note for the morning crew to make sure the transfer happened effortlessly. That was clearly not going to be the way as we met "Pam," the manager with a HUGE attitude.
Without any kind of greeting or introduction, she stepped in to the computer and began looking, finally suggesting that we were staying in the rooms that we were in since we checked in before our reserved date. I told her that was unacceptable as we were simply walk in's the night prior and wanted the rooms that we reserved. Nothing was given to us but poor attitude. She then thought a moment and said, "Well, you never checked out of those rooms and it is after check out time! You have to stay in them, we have no other rooms!"
I explained that it was now 11:45 AM and being that we were staying two more nights, we were just looking to switch to our reserved layout rooms. Why would our walk in rooms effect our reservations?
After more attitude she created the two rooms for us, being 217 and 219. There was no apology, no thank you, nothing but handed us the keys. Everytime we came near the counter or came into the lobby she either walked into her office and closed door or went to move herself out of sight. She made sure not to say another word to us during our stay.
I would have expected some apology or greeting to see if everything was satisfactory.
Pam's attitude was quite unprofessional and truthfully appalling. This is not by any means acceptable behavior in the hospitality industry.
While standing in the lobby each evening, people would pull in looking to see about vacancies. The hotel is not even considerate enough to place a NO VACANCY sign out to be considerate to those traveling. I think that this is further proof to the lack of caring of this property.
There are many hotels in the neighborhood and the general experiences in the town are fabulous from restaurants, (try the Moab Diner and Sunset Grill, both wonderful food and even better service) to the unique shops. This Property should be avoided at all costs.
