Very Unhappy
We had guaranteed reservations for a 2 bed handicapped room, since we were traveling with our adult handicapped son who is in a wheelchair. It is necessary for us to have this type of room, but when we arrived early we were told that that room was not available (2nd identical incidence at a Holiday Inn Express in a week) and that they would call around to see if they could find another, and we told them that they were the only hotel in that area with that type of accomodations since we had planned well in advance for this trip and were aware of rooms available. The girl at the desk said that she would have to get in touch with the manager to see what they could do, so we were told to wait in the breakfast area until she could get in touch with him. After waiting an hour, she finally talked to him, and they were going to offer us 2 adjoining rooms that were handicapped accessible, but we would be charged for one. We told them that we weren't paying for either since they were the ones that gave our room away. The manager finally agreed to do this. We did check into the two rooms and were somewhat satisfied, but one room had an air conditioner that wouldn't turn off, the upholstered furniture was dirty, unmatched ottoman at chair, desk drawer broken, rust around baseboard in bathrooms, wood piece broken off front of microwave/refrigerator furniture, dirty marks on wall, large holes in bathroom wall where a fixture had been, dirty looking dust ruffle on one of the beds, broken clock in one room, brick work around front post at outside entryway fallen off. Not a very well maintained hotel. As you can tell, we will NEVER stay there again, and are considering never staying at a Holiday Inn Express again, because of the two incidences on this trip.
