Fantastic b&b located right on the edge of the water. Off the beaten path, quiet and peaceful. Eagles landed in the tree while we were in the hot tub. The rooms are wonderful. Clean, outstanding decor, quality bedding, delicious breakfast (Continential) with the different homemade breads or muffins. Owners very helpful and willing to assist the customer. We loved it. We have been there every summer for the last 3 years.

Wonderful!! Thought we were in Heaven!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/09
We stayed in the Trophy, then returned to stay in the Compass Rose cottage. The detail, cleanliness, decor and fabulous homemade breads were a wonderful welcome. We would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to all. The cottage was designed by the owner Doug and built by him. It is wonderful! Over the water, view of the spit and glaciers. So relaxing. The Trophy room is equally charming, just not hanging over a cliff. The hot tub in the evening was a hoot. Never seen a wood fire tub! We saw cranes, and eagles than night from the tub.

Breathtaking! Wonderful! Peaceful! 5 Star BB!

We loved our stay at the Alaska Beach House. If you are going to Alaska and plan on seeing Homer, this is where you should go. We are coming back in 2 years. We have always wanted to visit Homer. We were in the Kachemak Qtrs. and the view was soooo great. It looks at the bay and the inlet. We could see the boats, otters, glaciers, water surfers and their kites, and the eagles that land in the tree by the hot tub. What a view from the hot tub!. Our room was very very nice. Clean, soft deluxe sheets, homemade quilts, and very high end decor. We loved the big TV and the reclining chairs to view the outdoors. The service was without a doubt the best! Doug and Sue go out of their ways to serve you and make your stay wonderful. The booked our charters and dinner reservations, along with hiking suggestions. Our room was spotless. Housekeeping cleans it everyday and puts out fresh homemade goodies. Nummy! I like the cinabun bread and punkin bread!!! Everything you need is at your finger tips. Quiet, clean, on the water, delicous food. We feel is is ***** star lodging at an affordable rate. We travel the world and the Beach House B&B rates as number 1 in ALL catagories. Of course it is different than a big hotel chain, and is not ment to be sterile like them. This is Alaska at its best. We would

Wow! What a location!

This was an awesome place to visit. We stayed in the Kachemak one night them moved to the Compass Rose Cottage the last 4 nights. This was soooo private and breathtaking. Definately the place to stay. We loved the homemade pastries, and breads and the great hot tub on the edge overlooking the water. Our new rooms was sooo cute, clean, and comfortable. Large recliners to look out at the bay, our own private deck over the water. The hosts were wonderful, helpful and great. This was the best of all the spots in Alaska, and the cleanest, best view. We've booked for next year.

Fantastic Cute Christain B&B
By C., 07/10/07
I just returned from Alaska and found alot of different styles of b&b's!! Definately different that what I am used to seeing, in the East and South. Alaska is a unique place. It makes the comment of don't judge a book by its cover, correct. This lovely b&b is a modular that has been remodeled. It looks beachy, feels beachy and of course is on the beachy. Just not your grand southern b&b, in looks from the outside. I read the review from the Texan. I found the property lovely. Their children are all grown, so not sure about the toys all over. It rained off and on the entire time we were there 4 days. When it did quit, the yard man came, but the grass was too wet to mow. The new cabin was completed and it is a beauty. I found the rooms to be charming, very comfortable and without a doubt very clean and offering everything a traveler could want. The hospitality and the outgoing hosts are wonderful. They are wonderful Christains, and their goal is to serve. Sue made great homemade pastries, and Doug made the bonfire and hottub for us the one night it stopped raining long enough to enjoy it. If you want the real Alaskan taste and the gentleness and serenity. This is the place. I would highly recommend this b&b. Don't let modular look scare you away, because the rooms, view, hosts and breakfast are truely the best. Very nice people who go the extra mile.

Are you kidding???
By MarleneF, 07/02/07
If I could attach the picture that I took of the this B&B when we arrived, I would. It scared us because it looked like a bad trailer park here in Texas. It was a trailer! The host had me sign the charges and then showed us around the area and then the room. All the time she gave excuses about why things were not completed. Yes, the room was ready. There was breakfast..but when you travel over 1500 miles, you are hoping for a little more than a trailer room. Although construction was going on, the grass was not cut, and children's toys were scattered about--good business thinking would have at least given us an option or at the least some type of reduction in a very expensive room. She even charged extra because there were 3 of us and we requested a roll away. She had a room that could have adequatedly served us. No she was not busting at the seams, and will not as long as the place looks like it did when we drove up. It is like something from the wrong side of the tracks. If you are into a fishing camp atmosphere, then this will be ok for you. But, I saw many places that fit that requirement and not near the cost of this place. You have been warned.

We loved our stay at the Beach House BB and will be returning several times this next summer and every summer as we are yearly visitors. We found this delightful place when walking the beach. Clean, deluxe rooms, outstanding food, and great hosts. Very romantic for an evening walk, or relaxing in the hot tub. We love this bb.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/08/06
This is the best place. The hosts are great! They go out of their way to make guests fell at home and happy. The food is delicious and the hot tub on the bluff is breathtaking. Our room was just fabulous. All the little luxury details you want, were there. Right on the bay, eagles, marine animals. So nice to relax and enjoy. Thanks Doug & Sue!

Perfect wedding location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/12/06
Our wedding was beautiful on the deck of the Beach House Bed & Breakfast! Definately breathtaking. The view from the hot tub, the bay sounds at night, that you can hear from your room and the views from your room of the glacier the mountains. It was a perfect setting for our romantic wedding and honeymoon. We saw otters,a seal, eagles right from the swing on the bb property. Don't miss this delightful bb, very wonderful bed, delicious breakfast, and great hospitality. We have booked for next year! Looking forward to our stay.
