Shafer Baillie Mansion, Seattle

Just returned from our 2nd trip to this fantastic beautifully restored Seattle mansion, and would heartily recommend Shafer Baillie to all Seattle visitors. Great price for convenient location close to downtown but tucked away from the maddening crowd on Capital Hill on a quiet street. All bedrooms have been lovingly restored and boast all of the modern conveniences you could ask for. Continental breakfasts are elegant and varied with ample food and beverages, and hostess Ana provides for every wish or need. The house even has wireless high speed internet for keeping in touch.We'll be happy to visit again!

The hosts were so responsive to our diverse family needs. We were comfortable and able to carry our varied activities with ease. Thirteen people in our family ranging in age from two to seventy-two and everyone had a wonderful 3 days.

My wife, daughter, and 7 year old grandson stayed here for a week. It was great to be able to walk down to the park, gardens, gallery and restaurants, and be close enough for a short drive to downtown Seattle. Beautifully restored house, very comfortably and simply appointed rooms. The new owners and hosts have done the job really well. I loved the massive porcelain bath in our ensuite, and the big rooms all over the house. Nice quiet neighbourhood. Very relaxing stay. Highly reccomended.

This elegant lady has been restored to her grandest heritage, with all her antique touches restored with patience and diligence. We spent a wonderful week at the mansion beginning at the end of April 2006, not only relishing the wonderful facilities, but enjoying the warm hospitality of Ana and Mark, who went out of their way to make us feel at home and help us enjoy our time in Seattle. The Shafer Baillie mansion is not only an outstanding accomodation venue, it is ideally located - situated on Capitol Hill with its close proximity to downtown and easy access to the I-5. Finding a better place to stay in Seattle will take some doing.

Mango Beach, a bed and breakfast inn on the waterfront at Marigot, described by James Michener as the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean.' A landmark building in local stone, set in lush tropical gardens with stunning harbour views and a boardwalk direct to sandy Labas Beach. Mango Beach shares its ..... wtf? don't know if this "mansion" is real or not! don't really believe the gushing reviews yet! obviously not in the caribbean!

Shafer Baillie Mansion is a restored 14,000 sq. ft. Tudor that includes such modern additions as flat panel TV's and wireless Internet. A delightful mixture of days gone by and up to date conveniences. It is on a quiet street in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood just minutes from the diverse Broadway area and downtown. Volunteer Park is a short walk. The 5 rooms vary in size and price and can be found on the Mansion's web site where you can make a reservation and choose your room from those available. Parking is free on street and ample. Ana and Mark, the owners, live on the top floor and are accomodating and very helpful. Ana serves up a delightful expanded continental breakfast consisting of a variety of pasteries, cereals, fresh fruit, cheeses, juice and great coffee. We would not hesitate to return.

On a recent trip to Seattle our son recommended that we stay at the Shafer Baillie Mansion board and breakfast. What a delightful stay we had. The owners, Mark & Ana Lena are residing in the mansion with their family and have been restoring the property to its original condition. Since purchasing the property the entire plumbing system has been re-piped, but all of the antique lavatory, tub and shower fixtures have been carefully rebuilt, polished and are amazing to see and use. The electrical system has also been re-wired, but again not a fixture or push button switch was omitted when the job was complete. If you appreciate turn of the century fine woodwork you will find a treasure of hardwoods crafted into beautiful finished paneling, doors and windows, and vaulted ceilings. The guest rooms are beautifully decorated and all have private baths. The rooms and the other guest areas are kept brightly cleaned. Breakfast was always a treat with different pastries, fruits and yogurts served daily by Ana. She is very gracious and works hard to please their guests. Anna hired and supervised all the workers in the restoration of the mansion and researched sources for old plumbing fixtures, etc. Mark is a radiologist and practices nights so it is not unusual for him to greet you and offer his help while you are staying with them at the mansion,.

Our extended family of 16 stayed at the mansion for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. New owners Mark and Ana Mayle have restored the mansion beautifully. The bedrooms were tastefully appointed and all the linens were new. The service was first-rate. The mansion itself is very elegant. We enjoyed walking through Volunteer Park, which is just a block away, and the close proximity to downtown activities. I would highly recommend it.

I was rather blown away by this place... the antiques and luxury abound while modern luxuries are built in tastefully... i've heard you can even have weddings here and it would be amazing for a photo shoot or a place to put up out-of-town guests to really impress them. i definitely recommend the mansion...
