A Home Run - The only place to stay in Seattle.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/27/08
Fantastic place to stay. We recently spent some time at this beautifully restored mansion and could not have been more thrilled. From the moment Anna mysteriously appeared at the door before we could ring the bell, the service was incredible. Seemingly alway available when you needed her, but never intrusive, Anna was able to provide anything you needed. The mansion itself has been recently renovated and was in excellent condition. We had the Master Suite, which was beyond description - a large king bed was lost in the overwhleming size of the main room. A short hallway to an adjoining day room made this a perfect setup for my wife and I and mother-in-law. Complete with large screen TV, comfortable furnishings and a bathroom big enough to have a dinner dance in. You have got to try the shower in this room - amazing. Snacks and water available 24 hours a day Ridiculously easy access to Volunteer Park and the CIty beyond completed the picture. The only way to stay in Seattle

Wish I Could Stay Here Forever
By Naomi, 2/25/08
I absolutely loved my stay at the Shafer Baillie Mansion. Its location is discreet, yet convenient. Its decor is magical--antique couches of deep maroon silk offset by dark wood paneling. The accommodations were immaculate, and the breakfast was varied and plentiful. Everything that you need to feel at home when you arrive back after a long day wandering the city--a friendly greeting, a cup of tea, and a warm, comfy room. Mark and Ana, the owners, are very hospitable and friendly. They will do whatever it takes to make your stay relaxed and special. When I was there, our TV remote had been misplaced. When it couldn't be found, Mark gave us their family's personal TV remote to use. I have absolutely no complaints about my stay. It was wonderful!

A Wonderful Bed and Breakfast
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/07
Shafer Baillie Mansion is a restored 14,000 sq. ft. Tudor that includes such modern additions as flat panel TV's and wireless Internet. A delightful mixture of days gone by and up to date conveniences. It is on a quiet street in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood just minutes from the diverse Broadway area and downtown. Volunteer Park is a short walk. The 5 rooms vary in size and price and can be found on the Mansion's web site where you can make a reservation and choose your room from those available. Parking is free on street and ample. Ana and Mark, the owners, live on the top floor and are accomodating and very helpful. Ana serves up a delightful expanded continental breakfast consisting of a variety of pasteries, cereals, fresh fruit, cheeses, juice and great coffee. We would not hesitate to return.

Another "WOW" stay at Shafer-Baillie
By Linda, 3/4/07
Just returned from our 2nd trip to this fantastic beautifully restored Seattle mansion, and would heartily recommend Shafer Baillie to all Seattle visitors. Great price for convenient location close to downtown but tucked away from the maddening crowd on Capital Hill on a quiet street. All bedrooms have been lovingly restored and boast all of the modern conveniences you could ask for. Continental breakfasts are elegant and varied with ample food and beverages, and hostess Ana provides for every wish or need. The house even has wireless high speed internet for keeping in touch. We'll be happy to visit again!

Luxurious & Classy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/06
Our extended family of 16 stayed at the mansion for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. New owners Mark and Ana Mayle have restored the mansion beautifully. The bedrooms were tastefully appointed and all the linens were new. The service was first-rate. The mansion itself is very elegant. We enjoyed walking through Volunteer Park, which is just a block away, and the close proximity to downtown activities. I would highly recommend it.

Fabulous stay at the shafer
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/06
On a recent trip to Seattle our son recommended that we stay at the Shafer Baillie Mansion board and breakfast. What a delightful stay we had. The owners, Mark & Ana Lena are residing in the mansion with their family and have been restoring the property to its original condition. Since purchasing the property the entire plumbing system has been re-piped, but all of the antique lavatory, tub and shower fixtures have been carefully rebuilt, polished and are amazing to see and use. The electrical system has also been re-wired, but again not a fixture or push button switch was omitted when the job was complete. If you appreciate turn of the century fine woodwork you will find a treasure of hardwoods crafted into beautiful finished paneling, doors and windows, and vaulted ceilings. The guest rooms are beautifully decorated and all have private baths. The rooms and the other guest areas are kept brightly cleaned. Breakfast was always a treat with different pastries, fruits and yogurts served daily by Ana. She is very gracious and works hard to please their guests. Anna hired and supervised all the workers in the restoration of the mansion and researched sources for old plumbing fixtures, etc. Mark is a radiologist and practices nights so it is not unusual for him to greet you and offer his help while you are staying with them at the mansion,.

Stunning historical luxury w/ modern touches
By NathanM, 8/8/06
I was rather blown away by this place... the antiques and luxury abound while modern luxuries are built in tastefully... i've heard you can even have weddings here and it would be amazing for a photo shoot or a place to put up out-of-town guests to really impress them. i definitely recommend the mansion...
