DISABILITY PROBLEM
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/14/07
When we went to our Mother's day brunch we noted that there was a ramp for disabled people. However, the ramp was blocked on the inside by tables and chairs for customers. Not wanting to cause a problem on such a busy day, I phoned the manager, Ruben, and shared with him that my husband had difficulty getting inside the restaurant. I had to carry his knee scooter (he had surgery on his foot and not able to put any weight on his still casted leg). He struggled getting up the steps to the entrance. A few days before our brunch reservation, we were called by the restaurant and confirmed our request. We were asked if we wanted upstairs or down and we advised them of the surgery issue and needing to be downstairs. We were never told that there was no ramp available for use. When I spoke with Ruben on the phone, he advised that they were working on the problem and that perhaps next time it would be easier for my husband to get in. What happened to the American with Disabilities act? The food was good, but attention to detail needed to be addressed in the cleanliness department. We sat in an enclosed porch area, next to a window that had food and dirt on the sill. Not real appetizing!
