We had been to Mackinac Island in first week of August 07 and stayed at McNally's Cottage in room No. 5. It was small yet comfortable room.
The best part of McNally is its location. Its located on the main street right across the dock yard. Eating joints, bicycle rentals and fudge shops are within 2 mins walking distance.
The hostess is warm and makes sure the guests are comfortable. The breakfast is good and fresh.
Though there is no internet available at McNally but no regrets!
This was our first stay on the Island (August 2007) and we were so happy to have chosen McNally Cottage. We rented the suite which was like staying in your Grandma's home...so relaxing with a wonderful bookcase full of old books! It is a very affordable place to stay.
The breakfast is very fresh and plentiful...Trish keeps the coffee and tea out all afternoon with snacks. She's a great hostess!!
The front porch is enclosed with white wicker rockers and is a delight..especially since when we were there in August is was chilly. It only has 8 rooms so it doesn't have that "hotel" feeling.
We will definitely stay there again!
We stayed at the McNally B&B in mid August 2007. I had myself and 3 children and we all thought this B&B was great. It is located in the center of Main Street so it is very convenient if during the day you want to drop off shopping bags, rest from walking, or just see the activity happening on Main Street. Located directly across from the Sheplers Ferry Dock. Lots of restaurants and shops located very close. Bicycle rentals located right across the street. We stayed in Room 3 which had great views of the Lake, although it does not have a view of the Bridge. It was wonderful waking up in the morning to the clumping of horse hoofs walking on Main Street. The staff was very hospitable. The breakfast options were plenty for us (cereal, muffins, Croissants, juices, coffee, hot choc, etc). Also, the hot choc and coffee pots are kept on and fresh throughout the day, so we could stop by the B&B anytime and get something to drink. All in all, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
You never know what you're going to get at a place like this, and honestly at Mackinac all you really need is a bed. McNally is clean and basic for most of the rooms in this 100+ year-old house. The suite is an exceptional value and a whole lot of room. It's right there on Main Street too, and people watching from the porch is good fun.
