Youngberg Hill Vineyards and Inn, McMinnville

The comment by the owner in regards to Colleen M. is correct. They do have a wedding coordinator. So the owner is lying. Maybe not now but they did. I am a well respected DJ in the industry and have been for 13 years. I have 3 other DJ's that have been to this venue and all 3 have come back with the same comments about how horrible the owners are to work with and how they are soooo rude. I don't understand where all these nice comments on google and other review sites come from? The venue owners and managers are extremely rude, unyielding and very unprofessional. They are quick to blame others for any mistakes and they never seem to be wrong. In the wedding industry the owners are known to be arrogant and rude to vendors. DJ's especially despise working this venue due to the fact that they are rude and treat DJ's as being unimportant. One note: They are very, very stringent about their volume levels of music. My DJ's only used 2 Mackie SRM 450 speakers for each wedding. NO BASS speakers were used for any weddings at this venue since they called our office and told us the DJ wouldn't be allowed to set up if a BASS speaker was present. NO LIE....The owner would stand within 5 feet of the speakers with a DB meter and say it was too loud. And kept telling the DJ to turn down the music. He would do this every 30 minutes. Really annoying and literally obsessed. I guess; guests were trying to dance and couldn't because the music wasn't loud enough. One of the weddings the bride and groom got really mad at the owners and he just told them too bad. THIS HAPPENED AT 3 DIFFERENT WEDDINGS!!! The same darn comment from 3 of my DJ's. Amazing; that this venue can be such a respected wedding venue. It truly disgraces me as a professional in this industry that this venue can ruin a couples wedding and freely take the couples money without any second thought. One of my DJ's said the string quartet at the ceremony was louder then his music for dancing was. It seems they would rather have a string quartet for the dancing portion of the evening. Please really think twice about this venue. There are plenty of other beautiful venues and owners that are willing to be flexible and not ruin a couples wedding. It's well advised that your hard earned money be spent somewhere else. The venue owners really need to "get off their high horse". They need to get back to the idea that they are in business for the customers and not for their own selfish and high esteem ways. Be humble that customers come to you instead of being the opposite. Also, a fair warning is that they are known and rumored to be indifferent to people of color. Just a warning.

As a former businessman, it is rare for me to make negative comments about another business. But my experience with the Youngberg Hill B&B was so outrageous I felt compelled to warn others who may be considering a stay with this establishment. We (2 couples) decided to visit Oregon’s Willamette Valley Wine Country for 10 days in July, 2011. Being the anal planners that we are, we called the Youngberg Hill B&B about a year in advance of our trip and spoke directly with one of the owners, Nicolette Bailey, to make our room reservations. Nicolette seemed pleasant to speak with, and was very helpful in sorting out which rooms would best fill our needs & desires. Afterward, we made full payment for both rooms to lock in our reservations. Since we all reside in another state, we then proceeded to schedule our vacation time, make our airline reservations, rental car reservations, schedule activities, etc… Everything we had planned for a wonderful, Wine Country Vacation was pre-paid and ready to go. …or so we thought! About 4 months later, I received a call from Nicolette’s husband, Wayne Bailey. Wayne called to apologize and inform us that the rooms we had reserved (4 months prior), and fully paid for, had been double-booked. In discussing our options, Wayne informed us that no other rooms were available because another family had booked the entire resort. Though he denied it, we got the distinct impression that we had been “Bumped” for this larger group. Wayne did offer us alternate dates which wouldn’t fit our vacation schedule, so he was “willing” to waive the cancellation fees and refund our full payments on the rooms. But he also made it very clear that he could not be responsible for the change fees or any other costs associated with “Their Mistake”. Wayne did offer to give us the names of some other B&B’s in the area, but at this point we really didn’t care to engage further with the Bailey’s of Youngberg Hill B&B. It took about a month, and a couple of more phone calls, but we did eventually get full refunds on the rooms. We hope that by relating our experience with the Youngberg Hill B&B, others can make a more informed decision on whether to book a room here or not. If you are local to the area and can be flexible with changing your travel dates on a whim, then this might be a great place to stay. But if you are traveling from out of state, and are counting on the integrity of your hotel proprietor to honor your reservations, then we suggest you look elsewhere.

What an amazing location! This vineyard estate is unmatched in the area. When you see the house after a mile long paved driveway you know your some ware special. Attention to details was every ware from the Inn to the wine and ending with the vineyard. We didn’t need to go any ware else to wine taste as Youngberg’s wine was spectacular. What fun it was to go for walks and be escorted by the vineyard dogs. The Elk herd were amazing to see only outdone by the sunrise and sunset that day. We were in the Marifeld room which was warm and cozy. Great room, great wine, & a great owner (Nicolete). So grateful to have had the chance to be there.

Spent the weekend in mid-May and everything was outstanding. The location will take your breath away. The building and rooms are beautiful. Far enough away that is was very peaceful but close enough my cellphone still worked. Lots to see and do in McMinnville (antiques, air museum (Spruce Goose!) and the coast (Lincoln City) is about an hour away. We will be back!
