Will not go back unless they get new beds
By ,
Have stayrd in a lot of motels the last few years. the bed we had was like sleeping on rocks. the worst motel bed we have slept on in several years. They charge your credit card before you arrive, so you cannot get your money back to go to another motel

Bait And Switch
By ,
Booked a nice second story room on-line, the virtual tour sold us. Problem came when we arrived and were told that our room wasn't available. Being the nice people they were (not), they were willing to honor the on-line price if we wanted to stay in a basement studio rather than the second story suite we paid for. Lady said we should have read the fine print at the bottom of the confirmation, however she didn't have a thing to say when I produced the printed confirmation and it didn't include the fine print she claimed it did. The printed confirmation did have the room number we reserved however, so her only defense was to get angry with us, hoping we'd leave...which we did. Sad business practice that can ruin a family vacation, hook a customer at a reasonable on-line rate and then not honor the printed confirmation. Avoid this place if you can, they don't deserve your time or money. In case you're wondering, we immediately went looking for another hotel to stay in. Not only did we find a wonderful hotel, but they gave us a discount when we told them our story.

Not child friendly
By ,
Windows that are an extreme safety hazard for children. The room had no AC on a hot July day. The only way to get air is to open the 12"X18" window. My three year old can easily unlock the window. Which gives my little one year old a chance to fall out and go splat on the ground 15ft below. I wish the hotel would have let me know about this before hand, they knew we were bringing young children. The hotel was friendly about our concerns but said nothing can be done.

Alright for the price!
By ,
This was a cool littel motel, this place did have a very decent room setup for their cheapest stay. We were lucky and got in the last room they had available, so if that was their worst i can only imagine what the best would be. But for 95 bucks it was great since right outside of any room is their huge stair case leading down to the beach. So without having to drive or anything you can walk down to the beach. The motel itself is located back a bit out of town so it is very quiet and peaceful, as well as you are able to hear the ocean from the windows that actually open. The Television was very small for the room and posed problems for me, but who is there for T.V. anyway? Also they had a kind of horid Continental breakfast, though the elderly RV goers, or what have you, seemed very serious about their muffins and pint sized milks.

Motel Great-Past Guests lacked respect
By ,
The Sea Horse Motel was most courteous when I made reservations by phone. I very much appreciated knowing exactly which room we would have and being able to view pictures online prior to confirming the reservation. There were no glitches in checking in. That was great since we were exhausted from a 10 hour drive. We appreciate the pet friendly policy but were very saddened to see how many people evidently take advantage of that policy and don't honor the very few rules. And the rules are definitely very few and very easy to follow. Simply - pick up the poop and don't leave animals in the room or allow them to bark. Can't get much easier than that. However, we found poop everywhere on the grass. So much so, our dog refused to use the areas and we had to walk blocks to find a less "infested area" and yes, we did pick up poop! The couch in our beautiful oceanfront unit was shredded from cats clawing the arms. The doors were gouged from pets locked up in rooms and scratching to get out. Would previous guests allow that to happen in their own home? We do NOT at all blame this hotel or the owners for this. You can't throw out a couch just because a cat shredded the arms. As a guest who treasured the ocean breeze and the tremendous ocean front view, I'm just begging anyone who stays here with a pet to respect the facilty and be appreciative that they don't even charge extra for pets. Please don't abuse the privilege of pet friendly rooms which often times are hard to find or afford. I do agree with the previous review that it would be nice to have wider parking stalls. I know the price of the land is at a premium BUT consider widening the parking stalls by a foot or so even if you lose one spot. We don't appreciate doors opening on the side of our car and we attempt to not to do it to others. However to put any articles in a side door, it's impossible to fully open the door to load clothes or items with the stalls as narrow as they are now. Beyond my above comments, this lodging was a peaceful retreat with an awe-inspiring view that helped to relax a travel weary body. We'd stay there again but hope that future guests start respecting pet friendly rules. Thank you Sea Horse Lodging for making our travels with our furry creatures possible.
