A great place to stay in Salem!
We have stayed at the Bookmark several times and it's always been a wonderful experience. Evelyn Hopkins, the owner, is warm and welcoming. She has two beautifully furnished bedrooms and one large bathroom. (If you don't wish to share, she won't rent out the other room during your stay.) A full breakfast is included, and she is an excellent cook. You are also invited to make use of the living room, with its comfortable chairs, fireplace, and many books to browse through!
If you prefer more independence, there is a 2-bedroom loft over the garage which also has a small kitchen and living room.
The location is excellent, close to downtown and the Willamette campus. That does mean that you're also close to the train tracks, but we found that the trains did not keep us awake. And the rooms are very reasonably priced. If you're looking for a charming, cozy place to stay in Salem, I don't think you could do better than the Bookmark!
